@virtue I might agree with you if I study the traditional school of thought, which I have not
did this dead server have anyone that liked ducks
@Leaf
almost.. hedonism say that all ideals are build from pleasure
and that pleasure is an invisible highest good
that is subconscious
the server was revived later
I do think that people are mostly driven my pleasure/pain and instinct
so I might agree
if I thought about it deeply
thing is we were mostly nazi and let some neggirs in
then a colored lady reported us
America
in some sense, we're all driven by strings we can't control. we can't really control what makes us happy which is ultimately what drives us.
who is sadder, the black guy that fucks her or the 4 dudes who don't have too?
@Smoke
the orginal school was more hard core.
It kind of went , if you are considered to be a good person
in your community..and if you are hard working.
Then good things will come to good people
and more often than not. bad things will come to bad people.
Therefore we should marry the best sex slaves
and marry them
who's the hedonist in that case
hedonism is cringe
I'm using hedonistic societies to describe a society in which overindulgence in pleasure has led to a degenerating society. A society in which the structures of motivation are unjust
embrace the Stoic pill
marry the best sex slaves, then marry them again? seems inefficient
i like you smoke
what if your ultimate pleasure is being highly moral? then by being moral aren't you simply indulging in hedonism?
I meant buy sex slaves and marry them..
instead of selecting *proper wives from fine families*
is the only way to be good to hate doing good? or does that make you evil?
i know the answer, kinda
are boomer hedonists?
selling out future for a few vacations and early retirement?
@virtue ah ya, I'm somewhat familiar with that line of thinking. But then poor people realized that people who were getting ahead weren't actually good people. And that worldview died
and is that sexual hedonism?
which is more virtuous? to love doing good for it's own sake, or to hate doing good but to do it anyways?
sexual hedonism is some modern 19th century thing
Indulging in pleasure is basically thinking short-term in the traditional sense. Thinking of yhe future's pleasure is what an accomplished human should strive for
that's more or less the german philosophy
what if my forebrain is so highly developed that i derive maximal pleasure from creating future pleasure
doing work good for works (god's) sake
Yes. But not only yours, but your own's
@fuguer , probably depends on one's eschatological beliefs
well pleasure defines the shapes of everything..
First you, then your family, race, people, species
no one can give me a satisfactory answer
no, the shape of your plug defines your pleasure
Well, are you an atheist?
Only you can get an answer
