I'm guessing if you use something like Handbrake that can take advantage of all the threads/cores it would perform a lot better than 9990k
But, for gaming and general applications, it will rank a bit less/the same
well, I don't use my PC for work...
so there's just more comparison
I see
half the price and better gaming performance...
slacker
It really depends on use
For gaming I would just go with 9990k as it is much cheaper and is better suited.
that's what I did
If I'm doing video encoding or any intensive multithreaded applications that will utilize all of the cores/threads, then the Ryzen is worth it.
my PC has half the ram though
but that's modular I can install more at any time
its also tiny, which I like
I will need to weigh these options myself. As I do a lot of music production, which will utilizes a lot of cores/threads but also do gaming.
Also, I hate how AMD will change sockets every time they release a new range of CPU's
So, if I buy a nice motherboard that supports AM4, it will be useless if they come out with new CPUs say, in 5 years time.
The motherboard I use currently only supports AM3+, so I'm stuck with AMD FX cpu's, which are shit.
