These memes about pornography are detrimental to our cause

Pornography is a monstrosity without any trafficking or exploitation or whatever

This converys the same (((conservative))) idea about how tehre are no morals, the only thing that matters is material well beign and pleasure

So according to them, porn can only be considered bad if there is some kind of material damage

The world isn't following after Christ though, and there are material damages. There are material damages to most things we are commanded against. I don't see anything wrong with leveraging the temporal cost to appeal to the good of heathens when it benefits the both of us. Until we live in a theocratic state we also must use propoganda that appeals to animal morality as well.

But it isn't against our principles, it is wrong for all those animal reasons, and more

We live in a materialistic world. If you speak in strictly spiritual terms even most Christians have a hard time following. It frustrates the shit out of me because I don't innately understand materialism for the most part, but most people need to see the cost before they're compelled to make changes

we've already been down the road of trying to enforce Christian morality "just because" - less religious people just don't buy it and then they ignore you

Rejecting porn for the right reasons isn't any better. Rejecting porn is a step among many towards spiritual health, the goal is removing it from the equation as much as possible to shorten that path.

Even Paul speaks in material terms of what is "profitable" to the spirit, because that's something all people understand

Porn is a sin because of the lust involved. This doesn't fix that, while rejecting it for the right reasons does, since it is an acknowledgement of lust as a sin.

But rejecting one sin does not put you in a better place if it is not accompanied by the rejection of all sin, at least in intention. Those with the ability to reject lust without a spiritual framework can only do so because their vice differs. It takes material cost to send messages to the godless. We're not materialist because of materialism, we're materialist because of soft atheism (atheism that includes those in the church with no relationship with God whatsoever)

Precisely this approach feeds atheism, because it is a secular rejection of *some* porn, and so it furthers atheism
