The charm of the game is its simplicity. All of those texture packs and graphic "improvments" just ruin it all

There are some texture packs that mix detail and simplicity

And raytracing does look very nice

I dig the look of raytraced Minecraft with OG textures and improved skybox. I could never run it, but it makes the natural generation feel a lot more impressive

Not a fan of losing the blocky look though, especially considering how impossible it would make the game to actually play

The nocubes mod is messy, though interesting as a curiosity

And yeah, dayz was boring as hell. The AI was beyond retarded, the drops were scarce at best. At least the game looked pretty.
