the only time I play union is if I want to mess around with artillery

Outgunned and outnumbered but still relentless

most of my confederate tactics is very aggresive and relies on elite troops

I ended up relying in flanking entire corps

Or creating neck access with artillery

I rely on really fucking good line infantry with pretty good cavalry

arty is good but I can never get it in position just right for an assault due to time restraints and my general micro

I use cavalry to slow down the enemy, same with skirmishers

Learned that in UG gettysburg

I use cav as my skirmishers tbh

When I won as union it was thanks to the first skirmishers

dedicated skirmishers are really nice to have doing some flank tactics but I rely on detached skirmishers a lot more

The V corp had already arrived and I had not even have the need to retreat to Seminary hill

What felt nice was winning online

my favorite moment in Ultimate General was when I got a line infantry regiment to wrack up about 4-5 thousand kills

this was something I took halfway through the battle

second battle of bull run was so damned fun

honestly the campaign is better then total war campaigns, and these dedicated battle maps work so damned well, it's not just open plains or FOREST LAND, it's actually kind of strategic

Elevation is your best friend

Max kills I recall one of my units got was around 3500

24 pounder arty firing canister shot is my fetish

so goddamned beautiful to see a unit's numbers just plummet

Never defend without a battery

tell that to me earlier in the war

Thankfully the rednecks are op in hand to hand combat

I never used cannons since they weren't price effective and 12 pounders were hard to come by

I recall a suicide charge of 500 men vs 2400

And the union regiment retreated
