st peter, mother mary, etc

and they have powers to assist you

forgive sins

They intercede on your behalf to God

you're praying for them to intercede with God on your behalf

Jesus is our advocate with the Father...lemme google for a min

in the OT priests handled that role of intercession between humans and the almighty

when Jesus returned that process of priests and sacrifice was abolished.

recall the rendering of the curtain the temple when Jesus died.

He says "No man comes to the father except thru me"

Hebrews 7:25: “Consequently, he is able to save to the uttermost those who draw near to God through him, since he always lives to make intercession for them,”
