Picking just one is hard because as an American only Spanish and French could be useful but I'm more interested in other languages like Russian or Mandarin or Arabic

Spanish has a rich history and successor to Latin

Mandarin and arabic seem to be quite a pain

I'd rather learn latin than any of its offshoots, it's a shame nobody really uses it besides papists and SPQR nerds

Mandarin is actually a very simple language, the hurdles are tones and the writing

Russian is not that hard, but not a latin nor a germanic language (even if it has a lot of words borrowed from French/German)

One is spoken by millions while the other is spoken by a few autists
