My father went on to Caltech for undergrad and Berkeley for PhD

2018-10-24 16:29:52 UTC

I will thank God if I can be as godly as he is, or more

2018-10-24 16:30:29 UTC

It's through this convert to the true faith that I know the Lord today

2018-10-24 16:31:10 UTC

He has brought me to worship the Lord every Lord's Day

2018-10-24 16:31:39 UTC

He has taught me both orthodoxy and orthopraxy

2018-10-24 16:31:51 UTC

He has encouraged me to learn the Scriptures

2018-10-24 16:32:26 UTC

He has rejected what is popular but sinful

2018-10-24 16:32:44 UTC

He has embraced what is unpopular but just and true

2018-10-24 16:33:11 UTC

He has kept himself clean of sexual defilement

2018-10-24 16:34:23 UTC

Praise God you have such a father!

2018-10-24 16:53:11 UTC

@Daniil Oxford.

2018-10-24 16:55:07 UTC

Neat

2018-10-24 16:55:21 UTC

Ever thought of founding an official chapter?

2018-10-24 16:58:55 UTC

Off-topic, but is the reason why the fantasy genre is so attractive is because people actually realize that modernity and modern values suck?

2018-10-24 16:59:21 UTC

Some of it

2018-10-24 16:59:32 UTC

When it is done well, yes

2018-10-24 17:01:05 UTC

I remember how Gurge RR Mertins made Stannis as an example of why Medieval values were terrible, and why modern values based on social-contract theory were superior, but then everyone ended up loving Stannis and he got really butthurt about it.

2018-10-24 17:01:16 UTC

John C Wright's young adult series is somewhat about this directly.... the elfs that secretly pull strings from the shadows have stolen meaning and hope from the world

2018-10-24 17:01:39 UTC

It's not even with fantasy

2018-10-24 17:02:07 UTC

Lol I love when that happens... Alan Moore was butthurt that people loved Rorschach

2018-10-24 17:02:20 UTC

Oh yeahhhh.

2018-10-24 17:02:36 UTC

Owlman was apparently the one that everyone was supposed to like, ahahahah

2018-10-24 17:03:33 UTC

Soy owl

2018-10-24 17:03:44 UTC

Like how Judge Dredd was made by a bunch of British degenerates to satirise "OY FASCISM BRUV" but then everybody ended up unironically loving Judge Dredd.

2018-10-24 17:04:19 UTC

Btw Wright's ya series I mentioned is real good.... and has one segment I love bc it reminds me of all y'all crazy Catholics

2018-10-24 17:04:31 UTC

I'll check it out

2018-10-24 17:04:33 UTC

The hero is facing some monsters, including an evil wolf

2018-10-24 17:04:52 UTC

The wolf hears he is a Christian, and laughs, and starts blaspheming

2018-10-24 17:05:41 UTC

"When the disciples stole the body from the tomb, they dumped it unceremoniously in a field! None have tasted the flesh and blood of Christ but wolf and wolf alone!"

2018-10-24 17:05:59 UTC

And the hero is gravely offended... but also overjoyed.

2018-10-24 17:06:22 UTC

He isn't only slaying a monster. He also gets to slay a heretic.

2018-10-24 17:06:32 UTC

You should go deeper than just fantasy genre. Escapism in general is popular right now.

2018-10-24 17:06:34 UTC

Wow.

2018-10-24 17:06:56 UTC

That's on an even higher level than Redwall.

2018-10-24 17:07:58 UTC

Wasn't the guy that made Starship Troopers mad that everybody actually loved the movie unironically without understanding any of the "Lel satire mate"?

2018-10-24 17:08:28 UTC

Lol

2018-10-24 17:08:35 UTC

That is the thing with lefties

2018-10-24 17:08:59 UTC

When they write too well... they put too much truth in...... and then people like it for the "wrong" reasons

2018-10-24 17:10:03 UTC

I unironically hate the guy that made Starship Troopers. It was based on a book that held militaristic values unironically, and the guy that directed the movie, no-joke, read a single chapter of the book, said "Lol this is fascism wtf", and then made the movie for the express purpose of shitting on the book it was based on.

2018-10-24 17:10:19 UTC

Lolllll

2018-10-24 17:10:34 UTC

The guy who wrote the book was a left himself, but not as crazy
