I highly recommend Guenon

2018-10-25 09:44:55 UTC

His writing is a lot of what helped lead Fr Seraphim Rose to begome

2018-10-25 09:45:33 UTC

One part being that Guenon highly emphasised returning to the most Orthodox form of a religion in any tradition

2018-10-25 09:46:29 UTC

So he went to Russia to begome and was inspired by the holy spirit to graduate top in his class in seminary despite not knowing russian when he started

2018-10-25 09:46:36 UTC

Dude is a genius

2018-10-25 15:54:35 UTC

Didn't Guenon die as a sufi muslim though

2018-10-25 15:56:52 UTC

Yes

2018-10-25 17:41:45 UTC

yup

2018-10-25 17:41:50 UTC

its the muslim equivalent of gnosticism

2018-10-25 20:10:18 UTC

I was talking about father seraphim rose in my last two sentences

2018-10-25 20:10:42 UTC

Fr Seraphim Rose begame and was a genius, Guenon was also a genius but was a sufi muslim like Elijah said

2018-10-25 20:13:16 UTC

In which way is sufism the muslim equivalent of gnosticism?

2018-10-25 20:20:19 UTC

I've heard the same about Sufism, haven't heard exactly how
They call Allah the great dancer and have some kind of dance prayer though
And it's not a denomination of Islam like Sunni or Shia or Ibadi, it exists within all these groups

2018-10-25 20:32:14 UTC

it's esoteric and pays a lot attention to the headspace (state of mind), connection to the divine through ecstasis. Similar to Yoga.

2018-10-25 20:33:07 UTC

as opposed to run-of-the-mill christianity/islam which tends to avoid mysticism in favour of rigid social structures

2018-10-25 20:34:36 UTC

Orthodox Christianity is pretty mystical tbh

2018-10-25 20:46:44 UTC

No shortage of mysticism, practical mysticism even

2018-10-25 22:15:56 UTC

There's been a few mystics in the Catholic church, too.

2018-10-25 22:16:03 UTC

Fascinating subject.

2018-10-25 23:29:03 UTC

I predict things B) lol well i just happen to mention things and they happen

2018-10-26 06:06:05 UTC

I, too, predict from time to time that no plane will fall over me

2018-10-26 08:14:44 UTC

well, orthodox (and catholics, for the same reason) are more based than what I meant by run-of-the-mill christianity (prot-ism)

2018-10-26 12:32:34 UTC

I don't get what "rigid social structures" means here

2018-10-26 13:39:12 UTC

Filthpit material, nerd

2018-10-26 13:39:50 UTC

It didnt contain anything of substance either

2018-10-26 13:40:27 UTC

CI belongs in the filthpit

2018-10-26 13:51:43 UTC

huh?

2018-10-26 13:52:28 UTC

Humankind is adamite
And after the flood humankind is Noahite
What's CI have to do with it

2018-10-26 13:52:29 UTC
2018-10-26 23:42:36 UTC

Ah yes, Galatians 3:28, "There is neither Greek or Jew, there are only Adamites so if you're not one of them tough shit lel"

2018-10-26 23:42:37 UTC

**Galatians 3:28 - New Revised Standard Version (NRSV)**

```Dust
<28> There is no longer Jew or Greek, there is no longer slave or free, there is no longer male and female; for all of you are one in Christ Jesus. ```
2018-10-26 23:49:37 UTC
Kek
2018-10-26 23:50:36 UTC
That's spastic bullshit and it sounds like Positive Christianity
2018-10-26 23:51:10 UTC
Positive Christianity?
2018-10-26 23:53:12 UTC
"Christ wuz muh Aryan"
2018-10-26 23:53:26 UTC
Plus they completely disregarded the Old Testament
2018-10-26 23:56:41 UTC
isn't galatians 3:28 talking about the context of salvation/before God?
2018-10-26 23:56:41 UTC
**Galatians 3:28 - King James Version (KJV)**
```Dust

<28> There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus. ```

2018-10-26 23:57:13 UTC

Lines from scripture don't just talk about one thing at a time

2018-10-26 23:58:32 UTC

**Galatians 3:29 - King James Version (KJV)**

```Dust
<29> And if ye be Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise. ```
