Alright folks. Me and a friend are planning on going on a little trip through various parts of Europe from the early and middle part of February starting in Poland. Any advice on must see historical or Christian locations/venues/ etc would be greatly appreciated along with various recommendations for food, day tripping, hiking, travel methods. It'll be predominately airbnb and couch surfing while we're going around and any methods of travel that would be most cost efficient around the cities would be appreciated. Here is our itinerary to give you an idea of where and when we will be certain places.
(4/7)Feb 6th - we arrive in Warsaw Feb 8th - fly to Oslo, Norway
Feb 12th - to Bucharest, Romania
Feb 14th - take a bus to Chisinau, Moldova (5/7)
Feb 16th - take a bus back to Bucharest, Romania
Feb 17th - fly to Vienna, Austria
Feb 19th - take a bus to Zagreb, Croatia
Feb 22nd - take a bus to (6/7)Ljubljana, Slovenia
Feb 25nd - We fly back to Warsaw and go our separate ways.
Give Warsaw a miss entirely and go to Krakow
Tbqh
How far is Krakow?
55 minute connecting flight
@TheImperator so my doctor had no idea what I was talking about regarding the black mold
So he didn't find anything wrong?
@TOES (SURPLUS BINGUS) From Vienna go to the Melk Benedictine Abbey. It's only about 1 hour and 30 minutes (depending on the connection). I would skip Moldova although it is the poorest and thus one of the cheapest of the countries in Europe.
Go to transistria xD
Probably a very interesting experience. Actually being interrogated by some KGB agents has it's charm i suppose
Ikr?
Just wear a picture of Stalin on your T-shirt
And unironically call everyone "comrade"
Would sort of work, i think. Altough saying that you like Putin would also do the job.
Oh and be sure to speak Moldovan not Romanian ;)
With some extra Russian words for good measure
That's actually sort of retared as Moldovian is literally Romanian in Cyrillic. Moldovans are just Romanians in denial. Just like they are actually Latins in denial.
Yeah
I'm well aware
Though Romanians are very distinct from other Latins today
I used to have a really good Moldovan friend. He had a very hard time trying to be Moldovan and not Romanian
Being Moldovan just means being Russia nized
Really
The distinction is artificial. True, the Russian influence is and was much greater there than in Romania proper
There's nothing unique about it. It's just a creole of Romanian with a Russian twist
Yeah, Moldova was part of the empire. Walchia and such were not
You know that if Boris I of Bulgaria wasn't a pussy and said no to the wanted expulsion of Latin missionaries by the Byzantine Emperor, the Romanian people (or Vlachs) would be Catholic. Also the Bulgarians messed up a lot for them afterwards.
As Boris I specifically wanted missionaries from Rome
Many of them ended up Greek Catholics anyway
In Romania
Their heart is with Rome
:)
The soviets got rid of most of them though
True but the inherent Byzantine Rite is sort of not fitting for them as the ROC (Romanian Orthodox Church) is the only Romance speaking Orthodox Church. That should somehow ring a bell that something is not alright. The Roman rite (which was is and will ever be in Latin) is much more appropriate.
I suppose.
Sadly we can't change history anymore
Nope
What done is done
Although the Romanian state and the ROC are literally destroying Romanian Catholic churches.
Or at least taking them from Catholic hands
