While it's all amusing, all those things seem pretty minor compared to the annouced gay crusade

2019-02-20 15:25:00 UTC

It's all mostly budget cuts, not recriminalizing sodomy

2019-02-20 16:24:22 UTC

@arsenicMysticist stuff about insulting Christ is a myth

2019-02-20 16:25:24 UTC

I hate the Talmud, but the part talking about Jesus of Nazareth is not the same Jesus of Nazareth. The guy they're talking about comes from way before Jesus' time if you read the whole chapter for context.

2019-02-20 16:46:14 UTC

I see no reason to not to think they talk about Jesus

2019-02-20 16:46:23 UTC

They even hid it so that people would not know it

2019-02-20 16:46:27 UTC

Censoring themselves

2019-02-20 16:46:57 UTC

But like the story around it doesn't make sense...

2019-02-20 16:47:10 UTC

If you take it to mean Jesus Christ

2019-02-20 16:47:36 UTC

"He then went and raised by incantations the sinners of Israel.3 He asked them: Who is in repute in the other world? They replied: Israel. What about joining them? They replied: Seek their welfare, seek not their harm. Whoever touches them touches the apple of his eye. He said: What is your punishment? They replied: With boiling hot excrement, since a Master has said: Whoever mocks at the words of the Sages is punished with boiling hot excrement"

2019-02-20 16:48:04 UTC

"Sinners of israel" is what "Jesus" was changed to. It is not a theory, it is what is written in the oldest known complete Talmud

2019-02-20 16:50:45 UTC

I'm well aware of the citation. I just told you that the Jesus here is not the same one

2019-02-20 16:52:42 UTC

And I'm telling you that I see no reason to think that, not to mention that they even censored it

2019-02-20 16:56:54 UTC

Have you read the whole of Sanhedrin 107?

2019-02-20 16:58:59 UTC

I have read the part where someone summons spirits who wanted to harm Israel

2019-02-20 16:59:09 UTC

Not the only mention of "Yeshu" in the Talmud either

2019-02-20 17:00:32 UTC

Also, it is not there, but in Gittin

2019-02-20 17:01:30 UTC

Aight, different spots. What's the reference in Gittin?

2019-02-20 17:02:09 UTC

56b and 57a

2019-02-20 17:10:17 UTC

And who is it that executes said Jesus in this narrative?

2019-02-20 17:12:02 UTC

To answer that, go to Sanhedrin 43

2019-02-20 17:13:41 UTC

There we see that it was under the Hasmonean dynasty

2019-02-20 17:14:19 UTC

Which ended in 37 BC

2019-02-20 17:15:19 UTC

The Jews changed a ton of stuff and even messed with the Hebrew manuscripts at times to make them anti-Christian

2019-02-20 17:15:36 UTC

But there aren't references to Jesus Christ in the Talmud

2019-02-20 17:22:48 UTC

Ah, yes, this Yeshu that was executed ("hanged"), along with his disciples in the eve of Passover is not Jesus at all

2019-02-20 17:24:18 UTC

But Jesus Christ's disciples weren't hung with him on the eve of Passover...

2019-02-20 17:24:35 UTC

You're aware that Jesus was a common name right?

2019-02-20 17:25:36 UTC

I don't think you understand the Talmud doesn't try to describe historical events

2019-02-20 17:26:09 UTC

Even if there was this reference to the events happening at most at 37BC, which I do not see anywhere, it would still be a clear reference towards Jesus

2019-02-20 17:26:13 UTC

Because they hate Jesus

2019-02-20 17:27:12 UTC

There is a "Yeshu", with disciples, who is accused of sorcery and executed with some kind of hanging in the Eve of Passover

2019-02-20 17:27:43 UTC

And his **5** disciples

2019-02-20 17:28:10 UTC

What I'm saying is that the only thing they share is the name Jesus and supposed sorcery

2019-02-20 17:28:11 UTC

That is not a relevant deatail, because as I have said, it doesn't intend to be historical, nor say the truth, nor is it an important detail

2019-02-20 17:28:15 UTC

the name

2019-02-20 17:28:17 UTC

The sorcery

2019-02-20 17:28:25 UTC

The execution during the Eve of Passover

2019-02-20 17:28:32 UTC

The disciples

2019-02-20 17:28:54 UTC

Accusation of leading Israel to apostasy

2019-02-20 17:29:01 UTC

It is mentioned in other parts as one of the great enemies of Israel who is boiling in exccrement
