I'd give us centuries still

2019-09-16 13:07:41 UTC

Rome had economic failings, and disasters

2019-09-16 13:07:48 UTC

But they never outright strangled it

2019-09-16 13:08:00 UTC

The complacency of its populace and the lack of virtue did

2019-09-16 13:08:17 UTC

centuries, nice

2019-09-16 13:08:38 UTC

But yeah see what i mean when i say i think too long term, i tend to ignore recessions and economic issues, and just label them as the natural order

2019-09-16 13:08:47 UTC

it wont happen while I'm alive then and probably not in my childrens life either

2019-09-16 13:09:00 UTC

yay

2019-09-16 13:09:11 UTC

I mean hopefully the cycle won't finish again

2019-09-16 13:09:18 UTC

I think it can be broken

2019-09-16 13:09:28 UTC

yea man like you think super long term

2019-09-16 13:09:34 UTC

that's cool

2019-09-16 13:09:35 UTC

And society maintained if purged from decay

2019-09-16 13:09:51 UTC

Yeah i usually don't do well talking politics

2019-09-16 13:10:06 UTC

Because like the topics are usually what's happening in the middle east

2019-09-16 13:10:14 UTC

libertarians tend to think a couple decades in advance which is better than most for sure but like you take it to another level

2019-09-16 13:10:21 UTC

And someone wants to know if i support the Hebrews or the Muslims

2019-09-16 13:10:46 UTC

And i say something along the lines of their struggle is inconsequential unless in 300 years we can stop the decline of society

2019-09-16 13:10:55 UTC

Yeah, it's detrimental actually

2019-09-16 13:12:00 UTC

I have the most hilariously pathetic answer to it all as well, making me just seem like some nationalist tyrant in the making

2019-09-16 13:12:56 UTC

I think what has to be looked at is if maintaining sufficent power for protection is possible in an age of decadance during our modern age with modern technology

2019-09-16 13:13:25 UTC

certainly somethings never change with people but our tech has

2019-09-16 13:13:46 UTC

Probs not, as the decline comes from within, factionalism tears civilisation apart

2019-09-16 13:13:56 UTC

maybe ultimatly that's what will save advanced civilsations while we still live high on the hog so to speak

2019-09-16 13:14:23 UTC

factionalism you say, interesting

2019-09-16 13:14:53 UTC

Yeah, divides grow in all societies

2019-09-16 13:14:53 UTC

GG @Mairon, you just advanced to level 4!

2019-09-16 13:15:02 UTC

And they weaken the civilisation like a leech

2019-09-16 13:15:14 UTC

Until it is too weak to stand

2019-09-16 13:15:36 UTC

But this is only an issue when there are no outside enemies to tighten the belt

2019-09-16 13:20:11 UTC

Factionalism does exist in every nation, and always will, to different degrees of radicalism and complacency

2019-09-16 13:20:20 UTC

And factionalism to me is not an issue

2019-09-16 13:20:40 UTC

Until a nation has no exterior enemies, because that limits the interior conflict

2019-09-16 13:20:58 UTC

Factionalism to me is only a problem when a nation becomes an uncontested hegemon

2019-09-16 13:21:08 UTC

Otherwise it is simply a tool of social development

2019-09-16 13:22:18 UTC

ah ok I see so it doesn't matter weather they 1st or 3rd world nations, both has it but the 1st world ones with more power and influence get destoryed on the inside do to no external threat

2019-09-16 13:23:01 UTC

very interesting

2019-09-16 13:23:02 UTC

Yeah essentially

2019-09-16 13:24:31 UTC

Something that amuses me to no end is, that if you gave me a wish for what i wanted humanity to be like. And the best i can see it becoming

2019-09-16 13:24:33 UTC

I don't think there's any solution to this though because if a nation is to poor and weak to defend it self from external threat they just get taken over and if it's to powerful that it doesn't have to worry about it factionalism comes into play

2019-09-16 13:24:33 UTC

GG @Terry Arcona, you just advanced to level 3!
