2019-01-02 03:55:02 UTC

2019-01-02 03:55:29 UTC

usually m3 screw. length varied with with chassis thickness

2019-01-02 03:55:50 UTC

2019-01-02 04:04:44 UTC

How do I reset an AMI bios in a tablet without removable battery and single frame case without screws to unplug the cmos battery?

Hard mode: the gpu has been deactivated in the bios so I don't see anything

2019-01-02 06:43:03 UTC

I tried ESC to enter the bios blind, then F9 for load defaults and enter to confirm, then F10 to exit and enter to confirm, nothing happened

2019-01-02 06:43:11 UTC

Maybe the USB controller is also deactivated

2019-01-02 06:43:21 UTC

riperoni

2019-01-02 06:55:35 UTC

You say it's ded beyond salvation?

2019-01-02 06:55:49 UTC

It's a coworkers tablet, he tried to install Linux on it for some reason

2019-01-02 06:56:51 UTC

no. i mean riperoni as rip ur life

2019-01-02 06:57:25 UTC

no other way than to power cycle that bih

2019-01-02 07:41:53 UTC

Maybe letting the battery discharge to 0 will trigger a reset and there's no actual cmos battery inside

2019-01-02 07:42:21 UTC

But that's going to take a long time to get done

2019-01-02 07:43:27 UTC

just hook up usb powered device

2019-01-02 07:46:34 UTC

Great idea, just did that, seems like USB power is working

2019-01-02 12:10:53 UTC

Lmao the tablet has a security mechanism

2019-01-02 12:11:03 UTC

When battery reaches 5 %, it won't boot anymore

2019-01-02 12:11:15 UTC

Probably to prevent a CMOS reset

2019-01-02 12:26:54 UTC

that's the battery protection probably

2019-01-02 12:28:12 UTC

That means that if I deep uncharge it, I risk fucking the battery because the system tries to prevent me from doing it

2019-01-02 12:28:43 UTC

Locked down tablets hurray

2019-01-02 12:42:02 UTC

you probably just need to remove the screen

2019-01-02 12:45:35 UTC

It's not that easy, it's an aluminum frame with a few bolts and no screws

2019-01-02 12:45:59 UTC

I could probably bent it open

2019-01-02 12:46:00 UTC

2019-01-02 12:46:15 UTC

lmao that's drastic

2019-01-02 12:46:27 UTC

But fun

2019-01-02 12:46:30 UTC

I'll just tell him to toss the tablet if that doesn't work, I'm helping out of friendlyness

2019-01-02 12:48:05 UTC

@porco what model is tablet

2019-01-02 12:48:50 UTC

You could see if it can be forced via usb-tools

2019-01-02 12:48:54 UTC

It's some dell with x86 bay trail cpu, not sure about the exact model

2019-01-02 12:49:07 UTC

Lemme see
