my wife is from taiwan, and when you read the history of how Mao took over, and how he ran China afterwards
it perplexes you
well, both sides were fucked in the head. Mainland RoC before PRC was a bunch of goons who didnt do anything outside of major cities
left the people in the styx to rot

if anyone is interested in Chinese history there is a cool uni lecture on podcast addict broken up into 8 episodes that go from dynastic china to modern day china which gives a bit of insight, is interesting
its called 'introduction to china' - latrobe uni
i live near a latrobe university lol
in melbourne?
if so it is the same latrobe uni, some lecturer uploaded his stuff as a podcast, is a good course it seems
yeah down plenty road
nice man i used to live in melb, now bris
I love China YouTubers. With the exception of cmilk and Winston, everyone's channel is only up for a short time talking about how much they love China, then they do a video "why Im leaving China "
It's always the same story.
The honeymoon stage ends and they finally see China for it's become - unfortunately.
Don't get me wrong, there's some stuff I love about China that we could never do in USA because we lack cheap and massive labor force.
you really got to be Chinese to understand china
@kaetaa why dont you like cmilk and winston?
He didn't say that, he said they're the only two who haven't left
I like cmilk. Winston seems a bit pretentious to me lately.
When I started watching cmilk he had 10k subs. Now he's at 100k. He's blowing up faster than Winston , will probably surpass him eventually
btw, chinas standard for video output is STILL VGA. You can find it on every device still (video cards, monitors, tvs, laptops etc)
they have hdmi and dp and all that, of course, but they still use VGA the most.
all about that dvi boi
there was a dude called lowai (SP?) who ran a channel about living in china, being married to a girl from there
it was pretty interesting to watch
he talked about the disparity between the asian countries, mainly how china and japan have it near impossible ever to be a citizen through marriage
or the amount of paperwork needed for him to even work
Unlike Taiwan or Hong Kong, where if you get married, its a long afternoon at a city building to become a resident alien
yeah youre thinking of Laowhy86
aka Cmilk
I follow cmilk religiously. He's a cool guy and like super nice about everything. I've learned a good bit from his channel.
I like winston too but I feel like his videos are a bit long and full of him talking about things that aren't directly to the point but he's still cool and informative.
>tfw cmilk senpai liked your joke in his stream
For whatever reason China never relaxed its immigration policy
I remember my family telling how they lived with a shitload of indonesian chinese refugees in the guangzhou countryside
refugees only in the sense that they were never granted citizenship
those are illegal immigrants
i'd doubt that mattered in the 1950's-1960's
Not like illegal immigration changed much then and now
