no I just don't like it here

2018-02-02 08:24:00 UTC

can't speak to anyone

I'll admit the best part about teaching English in China is the time off. I know we are wage cucks in America, but when I taught English I got 3 weeks paid time off a year, plus China has like 3 weeks of holidays , and then I was allowed a break for 3 weeks to visit home

2018-02-02 08:24:22 UTC

Try to get into xiaomi, they rejected me only for lack of written Chinese

2018-02-02 08:24:23 UTC

everyone assume I know chink so its a lot of hassle with intetaction

2018-02-02 08:25:15 UTC

Honestly in America it's common just to get ten days paid time off and then holidays. But the holidays fall on random days so it's impossible to travel

2018-02-02 08:25:40 UTC

Here, they structure it so the weekend coincides with holidays usually, so you can at least get 3-4 day weekends

2018-02-02 08:26:18 UTC

I like my current gig the best because I work from home on my PC and I make my own hours, so I pretty much can do whatever I want. Work plus travel together

2018-02-02 08:26:30 UTC

I want to stay in firmware/software

2018-02-02 08:27:30 UTC

pretty hard since I don't have an computer science/ele eng degree

2018-02-02 08:27:35 UTC

Do you want to stay in china? You would probably enjoy Shanghai and can probably get a job

2018-02-02 08:27:44 UTC

Oh, yeah that'll be tough then

2018-02-02 08:27:56 UTC

China don't hire much of those people as far as I'm aware

2018-02-02 08:28:16 UTC

Yeah not much

2018-02-02 08:31:03 UTC

@plasticsword what degree do you have?

2018-02-02 08:34:04 UTC

medical engineering

2018-02-02 08:34:30 UTC

but my project was pretty electrical/software heavy

2018-02-02 09:18:50 UTC

800$..

2018-02-02 09:19:02 UTC

Can you do much with that in China?

2018-02-02 10:23:58 UTC

Depends on the city

2018-02-02 10:24:50 UTC

My old City wuhan had 11mil population and people considered $800 a month a good job for a man in his late 20s

2018-02-02 10:25:52 UTC

Like, that's considered middle class apparently

2018-02-02 10:51:04 UTC

I know a guy that basically stays at a hotel for 1k rmb a month

2018-02-02 10:51:04 UTC

I know a guy that basically stays at a hotel for 1k rmb a month

2018-02-02 11:58:32 UTC

Damn that must be a shitty hotel haha

2018-02-02 11:58:55 UTC

The minimum I've found for hotels that will accept foreigners is like 120rmb

2018-02-02 11:59:11 UTC

Otherwise if you're a local you could certainly find a hotel for like 50rmb

2018-02-02 11:59:25 UTC

But my God do they suck

2018-02-02 14:14:50 UTC

his place is okay

2018-02-02 14:16:59 UTC

its one of those place you can buy but he doesn't want to since its so cheap

2018-02-02 14:17:16 UTC

its not too bad

2018-02-02 14:17:31 UTC

especially for 1000rmb

2018-02-02 14:38:06 UTC

There are hotels that won't accept foreigners? Why? @kaetaa

2018-02-02 14:39:59 UTC

Foreigners have higher standards and complain too much <:chink:323022148870602752>

2018-02-02 14:41:50 UTC

Yes I just found the same answer on the Internet

2018-02-02 14:42:11 UTC

Also low end hotels can't be bothered to register you at the police, which they are obligated to do

2018-02-02 14:44:09 UTC

@kaetaa what are u doin for work these days?

2018-02-02 14:45:13 UTC

You did?

2018-02-02 14:45:39 UTC

Dear lord, I just made that up..

2018-02-02 16:30:47 UTC

95% of the hotels in China will just turn you down if you're a foreigner. Can't be arsed to register you to police

2018-02-02 16:30:59 UTC

I'm not shitting you.
