The language I mean
Also I love Western Culture and the Cold
So I really hate this place
@Geartooth you in hong kong?
yo laowais living in china, does discord work there with no probs?
no need for VPN and shit?
it works but sometimes loads pretty slow. i recommend using a VPN at all times to use any kind of non chinese programs
even if stuff isnt blocked its purposely slowed down
you will benefit greatly at all times from a VPN
just asking because a friend is going to shanhai and we're wondering if we can keep contact trough discord lol
it seems like the mobile app works fine because it dosent use google captcha
>try to learn rudiments of chinese so I can skip some lessons
>completely similar words are diffrent because of the pitch
monotone it
mainlanders cant even begin to understand if you fuck up the pitch. If you go to a restaurant, and you point at the menu and try to say "I want this" in mandarin, but you fuck up one of the words, their brains cant fill in the gaps and understand what you are trying to say
they just sit there confused and can't read between the lines or use context clues or anything
i swear
you gotta sit there and really think what they're saying
but cmon what possible things could i be saying\
im in your restauraunt pointing at the menu after calling you over
theres only a few things it could be
im not gonna point at the tofu and say "i like cigarettes"
Well what was tge point of becoming commies if you didn't fix your language while geniciding everyone and destroying culture
Mandarin has been around for less than 50 years I think
nah must be like 70 years now
Why would anyone decide to make thier language pitch based
its just another systen
its the same you know your abc
they just have sounds that are just those sounds
Except thier sounds are based on notes like they are birds
its like c s and z
potentially they can sound similar
I can get that but adding nasal, throat and chest sounds fucks with me. I can't even get my mouth to make some sounds that are apparently essential
Anyway, are there any recommended apps to learn the basics? Or should I just torrent Rosetta stone.
there was a small site I used for a while
called nuli.com or something
never kept to it
