and malaysia was different enough that we felt like visiting
we didnt realize how muslim it was
it's pretty muslim m8
so it was quite interesting. good food, cool art
used to be different historically
we had a great time
yeah we went to a few museums and learned about all of that
but malay culture became so intertwined with muslim culture it became inseperable
the fact that there are two seperate laws
is crazy to me
but very interesting
But how and when?
malaccan sultanate onwards
From the location alone you'd assume a Buddhist culture
it was a mixture of buddhist, hindu and pagan cultures before the sultanate
But maybe that's just my lacking knowledge of everything south of China
east malaysia is pretty diverse culturally (sabah/sarawak)
i remember we were sitting in a fucking Chili's (lol) in KL and were surrounded by dozens of women wearing the full headdress
it was a weird experience
being in an american chain restauraunt in Malaysia surrounded by that
yeah i think so
kek
you never see those types of people at places like Chili's in america
they generally eat at their own kid of restauraunts
so it was cool
my wifes mom doesnt believe me when i say most people in singapore speak english
she thinks everyone speaks chinese and thats it
she literally has no knowledge of the outside world but that doesnt stop her from saying her assumptions as facts
sigh
真的華人時刻
where else did you visit in Malaysia during your travels
besides KL and KK
there's plenty of other comfy places to visit tbh
there's Penang, Ipoh, Sipadan, Kluang, etc
it was a short vacation (only 5 days)
so we just did KK and KL
flew really fucking cheap
airasia?
yeh
