The phone adapter might create a lot of switching noise which might need some hefty filtering to clean out

Maybe a cheapo wall wart with an AC output?

A voltage multiplier is fairly straightforward to make, and they're nice in that they don't create super high frequency noise

i think that's the job of the interface and not the power supply
