lol

2019-09-07 19:22:27 UTC

Bowling alleys used to have based arcade cabinet selection

2019-09-07 19:23:35 UTC

Latest SF and MK plus 4 player racing game of the moment with a few classic atari/namco types thrown in

2019-09-07 19:23:54 UTC

Pinball if lucky

2019-09-07 19:36:59 UTC

2019-09-07 19:37:18 UTC

it sucks arcades died out

2019-09-07 19:37:24 UTC

dave and busters still exists

2019-09-07 19:48:42 UTC

It was inevitable once home consoles came out

2019-09-07 19:49:11 UTC

But it's just like drive-in movie theaters, they're still around, it's just that it's more of a niche thing now

2019-09-07 19:49:21 UTC

Definitely recommend the drive-in movie theater if you ever get the chance by the way

2019-09-07 20:09:12 UTC

The 2d fighter era saved arcades and carried them through the 90s. Even ps1 and saturn ports weren't as good as the jamma cabinet experience. RGBS or RGBHV screens. Sound too. Think of the TMNT intro

2019-09-07 20:10:55 UTC

The arcade SF2 punch and kick sounds are all powerful

2019-09-07 20:11:10 UTC

None of the ports got it right

2019-09-07 20:11:56 UTC

The svac snes audio tho made guile stage music better

2019-09-07 20:12:29 UTC

Ruined dhalsim stage tho

2019-09-07 20:24:16 UTC

Idk what any of that means but house of the dead is fucking fun

2019-09-07 20:24:26 UTC

You don't really get cool light gun games for console

2019-09-07 20:32:57 UTC

I beat that shit in the arcade

2019-09-07 20:33:10 UTC

It took like ten bucks

2019-09-07 20:33:48 UTC

Time Crisis was also fun

2019-09-07 20:34:37 UTC

What pissed me off is the lack of consistency in difficulty. Some arcades set it to CHEATIN ASS CPU mode

2019-09-07 20:35:05 UTC

Others you could run through without much trouble

2019-09-07 20:35:20 UTC

First time I noticed it was SF2 CE

2019-09-07 20:36:32 UTC

At this rec complex with batting cages and shit I dominated through to m bison w/o problem

2019-09-07 20:37:01 UTC

Then at a boardwalk arcade I kept getting btfo by balrog

2019-09-07 20:51:12 UTC

You know what game is good as fuck

2019-09-07 20:51:17 UTC

Metal Slug

2019-09-07 20:51:24 UTC

That legit has to be one of the best games of all time

2019-09-07 20:51:28 UTC

Just the whole series

2019-09-07 20:53:34 UTC

The art is really good, the music is really good, it has really cool bosses and enemies, and it's just like a simple game that's also challenged and you can chill out and play it

2019-09-07 20:53:41 UTC

It's like everything a video game is supposed to be

2019-09-07 21:00:40 UTC

Yep

2019-09-07 21:01:16 UTC

Metal Slug 3 was the first game I remember playing after successfully building my first media pc/mame rig

2019-09-07 21:01:31 UTC

Is Metal Slug 3 the one where they're fighting the aliens

2019-09-07 21:01:35 UTC

That one is really good

2019-09-07 21:01:51 UTC

Yup

2019-09-07 21:02:10 UTC

I remember in geology class in High School playing some flash version where you fight like a robot gorilla man

2019-09-07 21:02:15 UTC

That shit was fun

2019-09-07 21:02:30 UTC

The cringe and bluepilled teacher was making us watch Carl Sagan videos and I was just playing Metal Slug on the shity computers

2019-09-07 21:03:52 UTC

Yeah fuck the school library for not letting students play games even when there were plenty of open computers
