Woke: using autism bucks to study and pay for various Cisco certs

2019-11-21 20:58:20 UTC

Stroke of genius: investing a portion of tism bucks in mutual funds loaded with dividend paying stocks

2019-11-21 21:00:09 UTC

Nick's DLive is like a whole show out of his Weekly Sweat persona

2019-11-21 21:32:13 UTC

I don't get it, if companies can afford to sell your dividend paying stocks where they will eventually have lost money why wouldn't they just... take out loans that can eventually be paid off for good instead

2019-11-21 21:32:18 UTC

seems too much like a scam to me

2019-11-21 21:32:22 UTC

kinda like bitconnect

2019-11-21 21:46:32 UTC

Economics is dumb

2019-11-21 21:46:43 UTC

Just smash the register it print moneys

2019-11-21 21:55:05 UTC

@frig because dividends are the only objective way to prove the stocks value

2019-11-21 21:55:36 UTC

And high performing stock means you attract more investors at the top

2019-11-21 21:55:57 UTC

The small payout the company pays in dividends is worth it in the grand scheme of things

2019-11-21 21:56:15 UTC

There's also probably regulations which dictate there have to be dividends

2019-11-21 22:00:29 UTC

Is the dividind a fixed value per share or variable?

2019-11-21 22:02:40 UTC

Usually variable

2019-11-21 22:02:53 UTC

So its a fixed percentage

2019-11-21 23:39:47 UTC

2019-11-21 23:43:36 UTC
2019-11-21 23:57:59 UTC

They're variable and yield based from my understanding. When a company performs well the dividend % is reduced, if the company performs poorly the dividend is raised a % to keep investors satisfied and incentivized, also attracting new investment

2019-11-21 23:58:55 UTC

They're not get rich quick schemes for the investor, it's long term growth

2019-11-22 00:01:00 UTC

So regardless of whether the company meets projections or falls short, so long as it remains solvent your money is earning money and in theory outpacing inflation. You can also reinvest the cash in more shares to increase your yield

2019-11-22 00:02:06 UTC

It's not for day traders

2019-11-22 00:07:40 UTC

There are other factors involved like how much cash and debt a company has on hand
