for instance, a single chess board state may have resulted from multiple past play timelines

2019-08-15 06:38:02 UTC

Chess is an interesting analogy, though I don't know how apt it is, it reduces the importance of momentum in that scenario

2019-08-15 06:38:28 UTC

if I'm mid jump, I'm either on the way up, or on the way down. You may not be able to tell in a freeze frame, but the next frame will make it obvious

2019-08-15 06:39:08 UTC

good point, momentum is key

2019-08-15 06:39:28 UTC

chess fails in this regard

2019-08-15 06:40:44 UTC

but multiple past moves... two pawns converging on each other from two separate past positions... may cumulate in a single forward move

2019-08-15 06:42:17 UTC

I'm really stretching here, but if you wanted to move the clock backwards from any state in chess, you could do so with any piece

2019-08-15 06:43:09 UTC

obviously, the neural pathways of human memory are a hell of a lot more complex

2019-08-15 06:43:28 UTC

certainly

2019-08-15 06:44:33 UTC

but... if a static configuration of brain cells can be produced from a multitude of past configurations... how certain are we that there is a single past?

2019-08-15 06:45:04 UTC

ugh... still didn't exactly explain the momentum issue

2019-08-15 06:47:53 UTC

I suppose it is theoretically possible, but the particular alignment of any moment in reality, or even one brain configuration, is so infinitely complex that the odds of something happening any different way are so nearly impossible that it's negligible

2019-08-15 06:48:22 UTC

in an infinitely large universe, sure; but as far as our experience can reach

2019-08-15 06:48:49 UTC

TBH, this is all simply my attempt to explain Gravity (the movie)

2019-08-15 06:48:53 UTC

in infinite time and space all rare events are common

2019-08-15 06:49:20 UTC

^that is what I started to say at the end there

2019-08-15 06:49:57 UTC

no wait, is Gravity the stupid or smart one... urg

2019-08-15 06:50:11 UTC

gravity sucks

2019-08-15 06:50:45 UTC

then... the one that had the black hole and time travel

2019-08-15 06:51:07 UTC

interstellar

2019-08-15 06:51:07 UTC

or all space outside of you pushes you towards mass

2019-08-15 06:51:24 UTC

@Phact yep, Interstellar

2019-08-15 06:51:41 UTC

looked like they were trying to rescue multiple pasts

2019-08-15 06:53:13 UTC

@WisdomVendor I think mass may be the end of time

2019-08-15 06:54:06 UTC

mass is the lowest level of energy

2019-08-15 06:55:52 UTC

fusion is the lowest level of mass

2019-08-15 06:57:56 UTC

so were we going to talk about determinism and/or true random in software @WisdomVendor ?

2019-08-15 06:58:24 UTC

talk or chat? you have a mic?

2019-08-15 06:58:49 UTC

I can do either

2019-08-15 06:58:57 UTC

may I call?

2019-08-15 07:01:22 UTC

go tor it

2019-08-22 00:42:10 UTC

Roll call plz

2019-08-22 00:52:23 UTC

No stream but we will be chatting in the call in show room.

2019-08-22 00:52:25 UTC

Its cuz Bret Weinstein is jewish

2019-08-22 00:53:04 UTC

Is Matt actually gonna fight that one guy @Legalize

2019-08-22 00:53:42 UTC

But Matt said he would rent a venue tho?

2019-08-22 00:53:52 UTC

I thought so

2019-08-22 00:54:19 UTC

Naw I remember seeing and thinking he legit wanted to fight

2019-08-22 01:01:35 UTC

Lol no that's not why

2019-08-22 01:01:47 UTC
