Sounds like you're arguing for something like a Citadel

2018-11-11 21:27:05 UTC

How so?

2018-11-11 21:29:15 UTC

You mention having a sole standing edifice that would serve as a sort of multi-directional hub in a matter of speaking for ICE agents and the like. Not necessarily a militaristic citadel but more like a series of focal points. It's not a bad idea since it becomes a wall with gradual expansion as you mention but also serves with functionality

2018-11-11 21:34:59 UTC

I mean, if you have one wall that's not doing anything, you can use it as the 4th wall for things like ICE offices, or holding centers. There's no reason we can't be hospitable to the people who are trying to seek asylum the right way. Especially if one of the walls is built

2018-11-11 21:36:35 UTC

Irate Bear has made a BRAND NEW VIDEO! https://youtu.be/V7oF7YN0Ejc

2018-11-11 21:37:29 UTC

I think it allows for an expansion of time frame for the wall that is publicly acceptable. If people are expecting a wall and it's not being built, they may draw their lines in the sand and move along. If people are seeing purposeful structures being built in the promise that there is room to expand for the wall, that would be generally more palatable

2018-11-11 21:54:47 UTC

And that was why I brought it up. We've been waiting 2 years for a wall, and we still have no wall

2018-11-11 21:55:19 UTC

Probably the most interesting approach I've heard yet. I'd be behind it

2018-11-11 21:56:22 UTC

Especially with the funding mechanism. I don't know why we don't do more of that on the federal level. It would be nice to see taxes earmarked to certain things, especially if you're going above and beyond

2018-11-11 21:57:09 UTC

Tax Volunteerism should be advocated more. Support tax cuts and promote tax volunteerism

2018-11-11 21:58:42 UTC

Is there any mechanism by which the president can secure funding for something under his own power?

And I mean by what the law allows, not Obama's stupid "I'm a Democrat, I can do whatever I want" method.

2018-11-11 21:59:02 UTC

well actually yes

2018-11-11 21:59:44 UTC

As far as I'm aware, he can make a requisition on it, but the Congress has to approve it

2018-11-11 22:00:18 UTC

If congress doesn't pass a budget long enough. And the gov shutdown then the Treasury gets to allocate money to where its needed. If the shut down was long enough he could executive order it..

2018-11-11 22:00:36 UTC

Theoretically

2018-11-11 22:01:15 UTC

What's it been, now, 5 or 6 years since Congress has passed a budget?

2018-11-11 22:01:29 UTC

8

2018-11-11 22:01:35 UTC

At least eight

2018-11-11 22:01:51 UTC

Obama missed all the deadlines to propose a budget his entire time in office afaik

2018-11-11 22:02:41 UTC

no they haven't passed a true budget but does pass spending that keeps it going

2018-11-11 22:03:30 UTC

Those are what they call them continuing resolutions? I think thats what they are called

2018-11-11 22:05:20 UTC

The budgetary garbage should really result in prison terms, as far as I'm concerned.

2018-11-11 22:06:28 UTC

It's really not that hard to be in Congress, and to cock it up one of the few things that you are actually expected to do that hard seems really egregious to me.

2018-11-11 22:08:14 UTC

@I Know a Fat Guy yep, the fed has basically been running on a figurative credit card for the last few years; discounting further problems with the national debt of course

2018-11-11 22:09:29 UTC

It’s hilarious because technically the government has been in shutdown ever since Obama failed to propose/pass a budget, and yet the world ends when he gets asked to have a slash on the continuing resolutions

2018-11-11 22:09:33 UTC

Makes no sense

2018-11-11 22:09:52 UTC

Should just literally shut down the government if that’s the case

2018-11-11 22:10:17 UTC

Also the “making it hurt” actions by the Obama administration still disgusts me

2018-11-11 22:12:35 UTC

oh yeah....shutting down the national parks

2018-11-11 22:17:43 UTC

I had a friend that liked to pretend to be above it all, but was actually the biggest partison hack I've ever seen aside from myself.

2018-11-11 22:18:19 UTC

@Deleted User when is the the stream in our local time? 10am 11am?

2018-11-11 22:19:07 UTC

2018-11-11 22:19:10 UTC

He was always real quick to throw out explanations why Obama's douche moves were actually reasonable and totally defensible.

2018-11-11 22:19:57 UTC

1 pm as I see it....

2018-11-11 22:20:08 UTC

little less than 4 hours

2018-11-11 22:24:42 UTC

I love the fact that we've come to a future full of technology, but on some things, I wish we could go back to the old way. Federal spending, budgets, and taxes being on top of them

2018-11-12 00:54:45 UTC

@J Edgar heh I think I was subconsciously wondering if you'd do something caravan related. I shall tune in

2018-11-12 01:09:35 UTC

Cog, Zack, and Esau bring you another entertaining episode of Banter Rants https://www.stream.me/thecognificent and https://youtu.be/7L1mvZP7Hvg

2018-11-12 01:27:22 UTC

The caravan is dead as far as i know. But I will look into it

2018-11-12 01:44:36 UTC

If the caravan is dead days after the election, then I guess the real question is did it ever even live?
