I seriously had a conversation with somebody advocating for gun control who said that arming teachers doesn't make sense as the chance that they need to use it is lower than the school burning down or being hit by a tornado.
He couldn't see how that argument is really an argument against gun control.
At least he wasn't one of those dumbasses that thinks that we ought not arm teachers because he thinks that teachers are such unhinged whackos that the only thing keeping them from murdering their students is the lack of a firearm.
Which is a claim I've seen people make.
