That wasn't satire?
Nope. That's a legit scene from The Good Fight, the Spencer video is just spliced in
ty
wow
Here's an explanation of the TV episode.
<https://www.newsbusters.org/blogs/culture/karen-townsend/2019/04/11/good-fight-speech-not-equal-time-punch-few-nazis>
They basically decide to completely break the 4th wall at the end of the episode and tell the audience to punch nazis
@C1PHER Oddly, that’s not the way I saw it. I got “Don’t be a fucking dickhead” and “if you fully intend to cheat, you are playing the wrong game”
But then I read the Orwell version of 1984, not the revised copy edited by Alinsky & Co
Granted, I also have no idea what the show is even normally like, so I may be misinterpreting things
But the internet sure didn't like it one bit
Basically called it "CBS openly calling for political violence"
Well specifically mentioning Richard Spencer, who is an actual living person, and having a character give a monologue about why it's okay to attack this real person is pretty bad
I thought the Interview acting out the death of Kim Jong Un was pretty distasteful, this is a new level
I'm not sure of the context of whether the character is supposed to be a good guy or not, but looking at the show's Twitter, I'd say there's a good chance they portray him as someone the audience should listen to
I cannot comment further without watching the entire thing.
My synopsis?
“TV shows has episode with insanity it it”
Some people take it as instructions.
So?
About the worst possible situation is if it was meant as instructions.
Even that has an upside though - they have now hoisted their colours.
The accelerationist collapsitarian route I see
Not my preferred route, but I do feel cleaner dealing with honest enemies than slitherers.
I’ll send you a synopsis of conflict mode theory sometime mica

I think Tim might be hitting the breaking point
I kind of hope that he starts replacing his beanie with a clown wig
aren't we all?
it feels like it was still yesterday that Tim was ardently defending mainstream publications
I still remember him, in almost every video, saying "well, _this_ is crazy, but maybe they just don't have the correct information?"
at this point, he's just completely given up on it
the last few months have definitely killed any good faith I had toward main publications
what's funny is, for me
I never grew up with main stream media
we didn't have cable, and we lived on the side of a valley, so bunny ears didn't pick up ANY channels
NPR was the only thing we listened to in the car, and that was almost exclusively to listen to car talk and prairie home companion (otherwise, it was the local christian radio station)
and once I was off at college, I just kind of ignored the news completely
the mainstream media acting so fucking awfully has soured ANY chance that I ever have good faith towards them, period
but at the same time, I'm now paying attention to the news more than ever before in my life
so they managed to both make me realize the importance of news, and realize just how fucking awful they are at the same time
and that's a VERY bad combination to create
(for them, anyway)
I had the bunny-ears TV channels until college and then also largely ignored it until the 2016 election. And I largely feel the same way. 2016 made me really start to pay attention to things and simultaneously notice all the spin in your average story
I'm constantly wondering if things have always been this bad, or if I'm only just noticing now
i think the publicity on this level is new, which is why progressives are overselling it and the conservatives seem to be always on the defense. And no one is putting up legit arguments/explanations on anything meaningful. How hard is to say these are the ways you could view this issue, this is a list of pros/cons to each way, and this is the direction i think is best and this is why
