this is why you would get answers like "it just is that way" or "because i said so" when asking why in math and other subjects
the teacher did a refresher crash course in algebra the night before
:^|
i'd be surprised if they could even prove the quadratic formula
Hit them with it as a POP QUIZ.
Speaking of Networking.
I have an interview in 2-weeks.
The company is paying to fly me out, pay for hotel, car rental, and food.
If I get this job I snag a 20-25k bump in salary.
Anxiety is to one-hundo right now.
Brushing up on concepts to smoothen the experience.
ooo! that sounds promising.
do you guys do interviews like software devs?
I was surprised. My first interview was generalities on phone. The second was with the HR Director and Intern. The third was a conference call with the Network Manager, and a few Engineer's. I had to cram that into a 50 minute lunch session because the WebEx confirmation ID that processes my call into their conference room was borked. I was extremely anxious, and I didn't answer questions as smoothly or as in depth as I normally am capable of. I thought it went kinda mediocre.
Possibly?
The final interview is on-site at their HQ.
I'll be doing a 4-hour interview with lunch provided on white board and stuff.
I'm sure I'll be quizzed on different technical questions and then be asked to break it down.
white board eh? sounds pretty similar
for software devs they give you some oddball scenario and ask you to devise an algorithm or program to address it.
if youve had that many interviews, then it sounds like very promising
they wouldnt keep asking you if they didnt like what they see
This is true. This is for a Junior Network Engineer position. I applied because of an online friend I know who originally was in this position before he moved due to family reasons. He said that they're a good bunch and are extremely reasonable with what to expect out of a Junior.
Which makes me happy because a Junior is not supposed to have an Expert level certification, and 5-years experience...
Some applications I come across. Phew.
lol the ones written by some HR person who hears "it would nice if they had this" from the lead dev and translates it to "must have"
Exactly.
I know it's a checklist, and *would* be nice, but you can't reasonably expect someone shooting for Junior role to have.
I think a tad over is fine, but it should be somewhere in the same galaxy.
pretty much.
Not: 10 years experience, Masters, and every certification known to man.
Pay? $5/hr.
the worst are where hr uses a site that screens applications out that dont have those exact requirements
must have 40 years experience in java
or w/e the networking equiv is
must have 10 years experience in a system that is 4 years old
you aren't a real dev until you make your own time machine 😉
lol i wouldnt put it past someone to make that an interview question
>must have 10 years experience in a system that is 4 years old
I came across an application similar to this.
