Well, everyone is still waiting on Winds of Winter so he better hurry up

2019-05-14 23:27:22 UTC

Joe Abercrombie shits out a book every year

2019-05-14 23:27:28 UTC

And they’re fantastic

2019-05-14 23:27:34 UTC

I just put it out of my sphere of fucks given

2019-05-14 23:27:43 UTC

And wait on Stormlight Archive

2019-05-14 23:27:50 UTC

Sanderson is a fucking machine

2019-05-14 23:27:54 UTC

Ever read the first law trilogy?

2019-05-14 23:28:09 UTC

I have not

2019-05-14 23:28:27 UTC

The first two are available on Joe’s YouTube channel in audiobook form

2019-05-14 23:28:37 UTC

Was referring to ASoIaF wrt fucks given

2019-05-14 23:28:54 UTC

Oh I'll read the books instead. Can't stand audiobooks

2019-05-14 23:29:19 UTC

I read them hard copy and while I’ll admit i trudged through the first a bit as soon as I started on the second I couldn’t put it down

2019-05-14 23:29:41 UTC

I finished book 2 and 3 in the span of a month

2019-05-14 23:30:05 UTC

He’s about to start a new trilogy this fall and I’m stoked

2019-05-14 23:30:38 UTC

The guy knows how to write characters and has one of the best narrator voices I’ve ever witnessed

2019-05-14 23:31:52 UTC

👌

2019-05-14 23:32:09 UTC

There’s a particular crew of guys by the time I got to the second book I was reading all their lines aloud in unique voices

2019-05-14 23:32:27 UTC

Lol. Can't say I've done that one before

2019-05-14 23:33:51 UTC

Also, best thing: Joe doesn’t talk about politics on twitter at all

2019-05-14 23:33:59 UTC

He’s also a riot on it

2019-05-14 23:34:13 UTC

Neither have I

2019-05-14 23:34:20 UTC

Nice

2019-05-14 23:34:53 UTC

Yeah Sanderson is mostly fine but every so often it feels like a scene was there for diversity points, but it might just be that he genuinely wanted the scene and couldn't smoothly fit it in

2019-05-14 23:37:08 UTC

Sanderson in my experience suffers from unsmooth character development

2019-05-14 23:37:51 UTC

I don’t know how much he’s improved since mistborn but Elend and Vin needed another 50 pages of screen time to justify her love for him

2019-05-14 23:39:11 UTC

Which is part of why I’m actively avoiding a love interest writing the book I am now

2019-05-14 23:39:57 UTC

Well post Mistborn trilogy Mistborn is eh

2019-05-14 23:40:44 UTC

Stormlight Archive hasn't been quite so relationship focused but each book is 1k pages so characters have had time to interact

2019-05-14 23:43:19 UTC

I didn't find Vin and Elend unreasonable though. They're young and impulsive. If anything it would be a question of how long things would last

2019-05-14 23:46:10 UTC

I liked them together but It never felt more than curiosity about each other with mild interest attached until Brandon straight up let us know in Vin’s thoughts that she was in love.

2019-05-14 23:47:24 UTC

Oh do you mean in just the first book?

2019-05-14 23:47:41 UTC

Yeh

2019-05-14 23:48:07 UTC

Hence the development aspect

2019-05-14 23:48:17 UTC

Oh okay. Yeah I think of the first book as the initial interest starting to develop. You hit that point sometimes in a relationship where things just accelerate

2019-05-14 23:48:20 UTC

He handled it fine in the latter two

2019-05-14 23:48:30 UTC

I would consider 2 to be development as well, really

2019-05-14 23:48:44 UTC

But I found the "love" triangle a bit much

2019-05-14 23:49:02 UTC

You mean Z?

2019-05-14 23:49:06 UTC

Ye

2019-05-14 23:49:11 UTC

Was he even really?

2019-05-14 23:49:18 UTC

They played it like one
