I actually think equality of opportunity is wrong to. I think most people are really trying to say when they say that is meritocracy

To follow up on equality of opportunity =/= meritocracy. You will hear the counter argument of rich kids having more opportunity than a poor kid due to differences in resources.

I know for a fact we would both disagree on a base level. I know certain people will have different skilled disciplines, but likewise you should base your career decision off of the current market to some degree.
