This may be pessimistic (perhaps that's why it might be true), but it could be to normalize shootings like this. The more we are conscious of the shootings, the more easy it is to invoke and weaponize for certain policies. They are literally putting these events *on the map*

Crazy things will continue to happen in the news, be it drama with our President or whatever, but when these online maps are used, the shootings will never be forgotten
