Well if you can think of it let me know @Legalize
The problem is negative space in the knife.
See how they incorporate it in the new KI logo. You can do the same thing in black and white, just keep the knife almost entirely filled black
My vote is on the knife forming the vertical line in the K
Yeah I like that element too @vampirebox
@uncephalized I like your first one
Here, let me mock something up for you
So if I were designing this, I'd change it to a pocket knife and align it to a bold font face
Lines would need to be cleaner, but you get the idea
I don't make pocket knives.
But nice work. Thanks @vampirebox
Same goes for any kind of knife, really. If it's a particularly long blade, you'll want a taller font.
@uncephalized Can you make Katanas?
Theoretically I can. I haven't yet.
Ok
I'm more into European stuff generally @Salacious Swanky Cat but I dabble in lots of aesthetics.
Did you have a project in mind or just curious?
Just curious
@vampirebox I am into a hand-drawn line art aesthetic. Like what I posted but nicer/higher effort/not drawn with a pen stylus on my phone in 2 minutes lol.
@uncephalized Can you make a broad sword? Like the zelda master sword?
Yeah, although a faithful replica would be too heavy to wield lol.
By hand or computer, rules of visual hierarchy remain the same. I'd still keep it in black, with small amounts of detail (I used lines) to draw attention to the center.
I assume we're talking OoT Master Sword.
That design has some usability issues but a practical/usable take on it could be a fun project.
I have an aversion to making things that are not functional.
@vampirebox I think you're right on reducing the whitespace in the knife. If I did a blade shape like in #3, with overall design based on #1, with the whitespace confined to a slim line at the knife edge, I think that might be a good direction.
It's worth a try. Ping me when you get a concept down on paper.
Btw it needs to be fairly simple visually because I need to be able to etch or stamp it fairly small on a knife blade and have it be legible.
Simplicity will aid you at large sizes as well, such as legibility for signage.
^^^
I prefer it anyway.
My personal maker's mark
Anyone: "What the fuck is wrong with you?"
Me: "¿Sorted alphabetically or by severity?"
Don't knock those Five Sevens; We got an Office Safety Bulliten about them from the FBI when I was in the Guard (an AlCoast) that flat out said *"find cover"* and bring your **RIFLE.**
