I went to the indoor range where they had a bunch of options and the P320 felt best to me.

For pistols, I've always liked the p220, m1911, and beretta 92

Grass is better than concrete because rainfall can infiltrate, but that only works to some extent. Heavy rains saturate the ground quickly.
