we went "xeroscape" about 8 years ago, i.e. i shut off the drip system and decided only the things that survived were worth keeping
which was basically a bird of paradise and like 4 trees, lol
Or a water filled moat with a thin layer of plastic over it. It will break if someone tries to cross but otherwise will hold on the water from evaporation
drip systems are to much maintenance, fn rabits eat the heads off of them to get the water

drip is the only way to reasonably do it here, sprinklers loose way to much to evaporation

Yeah. Drip irrigation is actually more common in Alabama than you think. I see it used in nearly all commercial landscapes

I have a couple of oleander bushes and three saguaro cactus too.
Up until last week I had a bunch of weeds since it's the monsoon right now but I got the weed whacker out and knocked them down.
