Last I've had were the KZ ATE which didn't really do it for me

second pair <:thvnk:332928260004642827>

I've already got a pair which ended up serving as my backup when my previous Yincrows half-died

Shit, almost made the purchase until I learned fakes are a thing

2018-06-11 04:07:08 UTC

Trying to get a pair off Amazon....How common are fakes?

>As if I needed any more reason to avoid Schiit gear like the plague and not regularly participate on Head-Fi.

This is utterly ridiculous. Anyone with half a braincell would notice Amir is not NwAvGuy. Their writing style differs (Amir, like me, writes like a non-native speaker). Much more importantly however, NwAvGuy could and would delve much deeper into the tech of the stuff he measured, e.g. PCB layouts, opamps etc., than Amir.

If anything, Amir seems to be the 2018 NwAvGuy equivalent because the story is very similar. Schiit makes horrible products and gets exposed, cronies start a smear campaign and silence the opposition on Head-Fi.

Anyway, I firmly stand with Amir, aka the side of the debate that doesn't have to resort to childish and ludicrous smear attacks.

Welcome to the forum Ron. To answer your question, no, I think this is pure poor engineering. Analog Devices who makes that R2R DAC specifically insist that it not be used for dynamic signals such as we see in audio DACs. Here is Analog Devices Engineers telling people that this DAC will NOT produce excellent performance in audio applications: https://ez.analog.com/message/56859
