If the product is a video game or art and that art takes 100 million to make and already reaches a wide sales populace, the extra exposure due to piracy won't be enough to make up the production cost, and if the piracy is rampant enough it will be an issue.

But if it was a small indie game and the expose woudn't happen anyway, then it could be seen as free advertising.

Think of all the weird indie games or a movies saved from Oblivion by a reviewer or underground support.

Its been around 9 years and been slowly worked on

I just imagine the day after the review, the guys goes to his computer.

And you can see the day in August when the review went up and the last post was a week ago.

Then its a new post every hour since.

For a week, the payment website for the game kept crashing because it coudn't handle the traffic lol.

I feel about IP like I feel about usury. Plus it undermines incentives to streamline production and innovate. Repeal IP and watch art get good again.

A small effort at drm with actual price competition would see 80% of piracy go away.

(adding onto the pirate debate) lets not forget that pirated games usually run faster, because of the way that drm works, like seriously, 2-3 years after launch, games should be made drm-free, those willing to pay already paid for it, and those not, would get it on sales or pirate it anyways at this point

DRM should just not be a thing

it doesn't prevent piracy, those who pirate were most likely not going to buy your game for one reason or another
