The left has been crying wolf about the climate for literally all my life, and none of it has happened, so I see no reason to pretend any of it is true.

sure. I just hate that being pro environment has become conflated with believing in climate change

like, I don't like that we have islands of plastic floating in the Pacific. Or that India has literal MOUNTAINS of trash. Or the massive amounts of air pollution that exist in cities around the world (though, people on the left have conveniently forgotten that, at least in the west, we've dropped the amount of pollution by a ton over the decades)

but then I feel like in the main stream, that's all conflated with stupid shit like believing that we're literally going to die in 12 years from climate change, or that somehow, magically, solar and wind will be able to 100% replace our current energy generation

If I were conspiracy-minded I would say that this is a deliberate attempt to get regular people to not pay attention to real issues by braiding them in with insanity

I think it's mostly just the natural progression of any activist group. Once you've reached your stated goal, you have to keep going more and more extreme to continue justifying your existence

the reason climate change is pushed is because if you get people in a panic then they will vote in things like the green new deal

"we need this socialist thing so we dont end up under water in 12 years"

if you panic people they will vote for negative policies thinking it will save them from what is a non issue

yeah, that's definitely been pretty clear with the climate change push
