I don’t think tesla is fully profitable at this point. Batteries should decrease in price a bunch this year, so cheaper EVs should be possible soon. I think EVs will be ready for prime time in 2020.

2018-10-19 01:12:26 UTC

Whatever happened to the days when making a good product was how you became profitable, rather than taking handouts from the government?

2018-10-19 01:12:58 UTC

But Elon promised Tesla would turn a profit this year.....

2018-10-19 01:13:01 UTC

Well, ICE cars have had subsidies too.

2018-10-19 01:13:19 UTC

Would Elon lie?

2018-10-19 01:13:43 UTC

Off-topic, but I _fucking hate_ BMW

2018-10-19 01:13:46 UTC

Elon consistently over promises

2018-10-19 01:14:04 UTC

Don’t blame you. They are over priced

2018-10-19 01:14:05 UTC

@Salacious Swanky Cat something which can’t keep going

2018-10-19 01:14:11 UTC

Elon motto....Over promise never deliver

2018-10-19 01:14:22 UTC

I love BMW

2018-10-19 01:15:08 UTC

@Deleted User yeah that’s generally true, but tesla eventually delivers. It usually takes a couple of years though.

2018-10-19 01:15:40 UTC

ok when will there be a profit? or break even?

2018-10-19 01:16:33 UTC

I don’t know. The enthusiasts say he’s profitable now, but all the media organizations who wish for it say otherwise. Hard to say.

2018-10-19 01:17:16 UTC

will know this quarter

2018-10-19 01:17:42 UTC

Yeah. That will be interesting.

2018-10-19 01:18:31 UTC

I’m actually starting to look for a new car too. I currently drive a 2008 Nissan Xterra - bad mpg. Lol

2018-10-19 01:21:22 UTC

@Deleted User what do you think about Kia?

2018-10-19 01:32:48 UTC

Kia has good mpg,, is all around affordable, and a good variety of styles depending on your needs

2018-10-19 01:34:46 UTC

Yeah. I kind of want to get the Niro plug in hybrid. The electric range is pretty small, but it covers typical daily driving needs. Y

2018-10-19 01:34:55 UTC

Kia is just Hyundai under a different brand

2018-10-19 01:35:37 UTC

It’s got a reputation for being unbreakable here in AU, but not sure what you reckon after the whole scandal with engines seizing/blowing up in the US @Salacious Swanky Cat

2018-10-19 01:37:23 UTC

Ok.

2018-10-19 01:37:38 UTC

Apart from that, I’d get one if not for... I just don’t like how they look

2018-10-19 01:37:40 UTC

Didn’t know that about the engines.

2018-10-19 01:37:55 UTC

I definitely prefer Hyundai over Kia in terms of styling

2018-10-19 01:38:01 UTC

I didn't either. Then again, I bought my Kia about 5 years ago

2018-10-19 01:38:29 UTC

Lol. I’m not as concerned about looks. For me, cars are purely a utility vehicle. Point a to b, carry stuff in back occasionally.

2018-10-19 01:38:37 UTC

@SteelandSouls I reckon your car just scraped out of the affected range

2018-10-19 01:38:56 UTC

Cause if I remember correctly it affected cars manufactured between 2007 - 2013

2018-10-19 01:39:20 UTC

Mine was an end of year 2013 so that's likely the case

2018-10-19 01:39:24 UTC

Mmmm

2018-10-19 01:39:53 UTC

But yeah, @Salacious Swanky Cat, if you don’t mind them, a Kia Cerato or... Rio would be great

2018-10-19 01:40:04 UTC

If you don’t mind going even smaller go for a Pinto

2018-10-19 01:40:18 UTC

(This is me assuming the models are the same despite country)

2018-10-19 01:40:28 UTC

It's the same over here

2018-10-19 01:40:37 UTC

Nice

2018-10-19 01:40:45 UTC

I like the Kia Optima

2018-10-19 01:41:05 UTC

But I’m more a E-segment kinda guy so that probably plays a lot into it

2018-10-19 01:41:05 UTC

A lot of people like the Optima. I own a 4 door Rio myself
