She apparently got married to a guy, a complete stranger, on a whim, because he offered to pay her some amount of money per week/month or whatever, so that he could stay in the country.
Anyway, she was shocked to find out that he had. . .I don't remember what, did some really financially stupid things when they were bound together by marriage that almost kept her from being able to get her own apartment. The weirdest thing about it was that at that point she started freaking out about how we shouldn't ever get married, becuase it was bad, as if she was actually married.
