@Salacious Swanky Cat She said she's forgotten it all lol. It was a decade ago.

2019-01-08 03:08:11 UTC

@grant Good questions. I don't know.

2019-01-08 03:08:17 UTC

I want you to convince me that it's a terrible idea.

2019-01-08 03:08:40 UTC

A lot of problems come with the gate keepers.

2019-01-08 03:08:59 UTC

It would effectively mean that the rich elite would have an outsized representation right?

2019-01-08 03:09:08 UTC

I mean right now we see california letting non-citizens vote.

2019-01-08 03:09:17 UTC

But I guess if someone paid only $1 based on their income, they're still eligible

2019-01-08 03:10:16 UTC

@Salacious Swanky Cat are you sure? same number of votes if you paid a million versus if you paid $1 in taxes

2019-01-08 03:10:25 UTC

@Salacious Swanky Cat It would be contingent on a flat tax system, so it's binary. You're either paying taxes or you're not.

2019-01-08 03:10:28 UTC

Any system a person proposes has to take into account, anything they change having no negative effects is the least likely thing to happen. Whats more likely is it will cause a backfire making things worst. So you have to be very careful in the ideas people wish to change to.

These are things the founding fathers thought of and didn't add them, what they did do is give us one of the greatest documents ever made, that isn't perfect and needs great care in attempting to improve on it.

2019-01-08 03:11:15 UTC

@yuma_8 @grant ok. Fair enough.

2019-01-08 03:12:42 UTC

@Shadows I'm actually quite sad that it still stands as the best governing document. It means we really haven't made as much progress as we'd probably like to think.

2019-01-08 03:13:27 UTC

Progress isn't a straight line, it has ups and downs.
But would you say the same about the bible?

2019-01-08 03:14:07 UTC

yes

2019-01-08 03:14:24 UTC

but maybe that's just our limitations humans

2019-01-08 03:14:46 UTC

The one thing we can never get away from.

2019-01-08 03:14:50 UTC

Yes. There are limitations that come from being human.

2019-01-08 03:15:26 UTC

The difference between all good and basically good is inherently evil. The left doesn’t understand this.

2019-01-08 03:16:30 UTC

talking about the constitution reminds me that Ginsburg pointed to the south African constitution as a better model than the US contitution.

2019-01-08 03:18:44 UTC

Lmao

2019-01-08 03:18:47 UTC

By the way, I'm not saying we should discard those documents or that their bad. But we should have new documents that take all the good things from them and improve. The constitution drew from past documents and tried to improve upon them.

2019-01-08 03:19:47 UTC

Problem is, the only “improvement” people have been clamouring for is related to the general welfare bullshit

2019-01-08 03:19:54 UTC

And it’s definitely not for the better

2019-01-08 03:20:24 UTC

And we have made the constitution better since then and in some places worst (that's why i said it has ups and downs).

2019-01-08 03:22:18 UTC

@Deleted User That's why they're regressives.

2019-01-08 03:23:02 UTC

Yee doggie.

2019-01-08 03:23:19 UTC

They done sure made it worse now.

2019-01-08 07:26:54 UTC

For taxes, I would love to see a flat tax for all with zero deductions. I would also accept the abolishment of the income tax in favor or a national sales tax. Though any changes to taxes is a moot point due to the complete ineptness of Congress to pass a reasonable budget.

2019-01-08 07:29:12 UTC

Making a better tax system would be nice, and i might have to think about it more. But i think i favor a flat tax.

2019-01-08 08:18:16 UTC

Flat tax sounds like the best system to me. Technically speaking it is the "fairest" tax system, just not the kind of fair, the progressives are rambling on about!

2019-01-08 19:20:20 UTC

this story will be interesting to watch....https://www.cnn.com/2019/01/08/us/los-angeles-teachers-strike/index.html

2019-01-08 22:38:28 UTC

hahahahahaha He wants to use 100 million $ to cover 600k people....Thats 166$ per year per person.....he is so off in his math he would likely need 2-3 billion at least....https://abc7ny.com/politics/mayor-de-blasio-announces-health-care-for-all-nyc-residents/5034167/

2019-01-08 22:44:48 UTC

Its nothing new that most of them don't know how to math.

2019-01-08 22:46:16 UTC

On the plus side, if they are also playing for undocumented immigrants, maybe we could get some better numbers on how many there are in NYC

2019-01-08 22:47:45 UTC

I don't think it will happen De Blasio is running for re-election and I think this is just to distract the Progressives of NYC to vote for him cause they hate him over the Amazon HQ stuff...

2019-01-08 22:48:03 UTC

Ya, none of this will work, was just a wonder heh

2019-01-08 22:48:55 UTC

They will test it for a bit, run out of money and have to beg for more, or close the program.

2019-01-08 22:50:07 UTC

Depends on what is being counted under healthcare
*you'll never have to buy Buckleys again bro*

2019-01-08 22:52:25 UTC

I also don't think he can do it just from the Mayors office....Seems like this would be such a big decision the City Council would need to vote on it...

2019-01-08 23:52:56 UTC

After reading that article about the teachers union strike, I've never been as big a supporter of scabs as I am right now.
