Even for those born here, you can leave. I've said this before but you can tell they hate the country, they don't talk about what's good about it and they always threaten to leave (but don't because they're liars). In the context it was a kid that was dumb enough to make the claim that the world is literally dying, so I pointed out that if the people talking about how bad climate change is actually believed it, they wouldn't make agreements like the Paris accord that makes exceptions for the developing world.
And his reply was, in effect, "you're right, we should conquer countries that aren't in compliance." Though I can't help but get the impression that he thought I was talking about the US, no India and China.
