I'm not so sure. I can't help but suspect that if the government subsidies ended for electric cars tomorrow, the entire industry would collapse. Then again, I am cynical and uninformed, so take that how you will.

you know what else would help EV's?? if someone could make them less reliant on rare metals, like why should we rely on chinese goodwill to be able to get the rare metals in the quantities required for several hundreds of thousands of EVs

@wolfman1911 hence "less meddling from the government". Slapping on taxes is meddling. Dont slap on taxes to begin with and you wont need to subsidize it.
