I think hatred is one of the strongest, most intense feelings possible, and shouldn’t be thrown around lightly (and I’m one of those pansies who thinks you should try to not have any hate in your heart). All this anti-“hate speech” stuff really just normalizes hatred in the end though.

What's worse, a hatred that can't be expressed is a hatred that gets buried and festers. You get over hatred by being exposed to personal examples of people who don't fit your prejudice.

Even though I try not to hold hatred, I agree with you about child rapists/abusers. Or anyone who tortures the defenseless. I really want to be anti-capital punishment, but every article I read about a mom and step dad torturing their child to death (which there are too many cases of), I go zero to execution real fast.
