being poor and being obese are both the outcomes of being bad at making decisions
just like poverty and crime are both symptoms of other causes
people waste money on scratch offs and waste money on fast food for the same reasons
not smart
some people are smart enough to know fast food isn't healthy and some people are smart enough to know fast food isn't as cheap as real food
but those same people often aren't smart enough to know scratch off tickets are for suckers
the independent variable in all of these equations is the individual
the outcomes, poverty, obesity, crime, etc, are all the dependent variables that result based on the quality of the individual
@MechMage "I fail to see how weighing 600 lbs is not a disability."
It is one, but it should be viewed as temporary, like a broken limb, since it can be cured at any time by fasting.
Of course it would take something like a year to fast off that much weight, but hey. Think of all the time you'd save not eating.
@Fondboy "the purpose of the federal government I would hope would be to limit the power of state government"
The purpose of the US federal government is spelled out in the Constitution. Protect the national border, mediate interstate disputes and regulate interstate trade, and negotiate treaties with foreign powers. You have the intended balance of power precisely backward.
"yea federally fine. But the Government MUST mail it to all citizens or find a way to get it to all of them"
There is no such thing as a federal election in the US. All elections are run by the States, some for the purpose of electing federal representatives. I do not have a US ID, I have an Arizona ID because I am a citizen of Arizona.
"does the state mail every person an ID"
Everyone who asks for one, yes.
"so they magically know where you are and if you have your ID yet?"
No, you give them your information when you apply for the ID. Duh.
"no applying fuck that"
You realize that you have to register to vote anyway right?
"I want to play my game and debate" [so everyone accommodate me bigots]
Grow up.
"You realize that you have to register to vote anyway right?" That's what i never understand about the leftist voter ID argument
but i'm not educated enough to know if registration is required in every state
so i never bring that up
Even if it isn't, that's up to the State in question because the Constitution gives states the power to run their own elections. Which is another damn good reason not to abolish the Electoral college, since California could just decide to let illegals vote in Presidential elections in California if they wanted to.
10/10
I think some state wanted to enroll people automatically when they applied for a drivers license. That couldve been CA. I know I was specifically asked if I wanted to register to vote when I got my license
Which ofc I had to decline to since Im not a citizen and therefore dont have a right to vote
@uncephalized letting illegals vote in federal elections is still illegal, regardless if the state wants to allow it or not
But ofc its CA and they tend to do whatever the fuck they please anyways
@uncephalized responding is like a drug I wish I could stop
First if the federal gov is to hold up the constitution should they not also slap down states that attempt to violate it?
I said federally i don't know the context but if states all gave out ids that would be fine I guess it doesn't matter
even if they must ask for it people seem to not be doing that so I don't like the process
if people are registering to vote anyway what is wrong with just making them register why also need ID?
uhh I guess I thought these manly conservatives might have the confidence to have a debate. Usually I see Dems run from debates but both sides do it.
If someone wants to voice debate @ me otherwise I'll just ignore it
@Fondboy no one is running from you. You're just too lazy to type. I would happily debate you but not during the times you seem to typically be available, because I live in a small house and my kids are sleeping.
@pussydestroyer I looked and it seems you are right that non-citizens are not allowed to vote in federal-level elections. But it is state discretion whether to allow them in local elections. So it could be worse.
yes I am because it takes all concentration and is not something that can be multitasked
@uncephalized 14th and 15th Amendment
15th explains that citizens are allowed to vote. 14th explains who is a citizen
This is for federal elections only. Not local and state
@Fondboy if you can't even do your partners in debate the courtesy of giving them your full attention then you are even less worth talking to than I thought you were. Seriously, how incredibly rude and condescending. "I'll only talk to you if I can also play video games at the same time." Fuck off man.
Yeah thanks @pussydestroyer
@uncephalized Np. Im required to know my rights/responsibilities as a non citizen
Are you trying to become a citizen?
I qualify for citizenship next year. Which yes, Im going to apply for.
Good.
Sounds like we could use you lol.
Id be stupid to not wanna be a citizen of this country
Where do you come from? If you feel like saying.
Im originally from Sweden, married to an american. Been here since 2016 :)
Cool. Best of luck man. Sounds like you are prepared.
Thank you! Im well prepared.
It also helps that Im a criminal justice major, so having knowledge of the constitution is pretty emphasized lol
