It only really gets better once you get into mixed secular/christian values
Which
might just
be the point
Perhaps the problem has less to do with the religion and more how dogmatic the beliefs are
I'd agree with that
The inquisition wasn't exactly a great look
Yeah I think it's more the moderation and opening up of society
Which in Europe happened, after a lot of bloodshed, with the Church's say so
The Inquisition depended partly on where you were, IIRC
And in Japan happened after doublenuke
In some places people who had committed other crimes would turn themselves into the Inquisition because the inquisitors would give them lighter sentences
Yeah unlike those Christians that are
Closed and unwilling to listen
turn themselves in to* not into
(though I guess there had to be at least one reformed criminal inquisitor just because of stats)
There's a variety of factors, honestly, that go into which societies succeed and which fail. The culture is also going to be a product of those circumstances
And judeo-christian cultures are far more likely to succeed
So much more likely that they've been steadily dragging the rest of the world into the future
Like, if you look at the North American native groups, you had groups that had proper housing because they could rely on fishing, vs groups that were nomadic because they relied on hunting (and either hunted nomadic prey or over hunted and needed to allow areas to become fertile again)
Down south you had a fucking empire
Compare that to Mongolia and the other regions where these same people came from, who had much stiffer competition for resources
Sure, but those empires were warlike empires which couldn't have ever survived on their own without a steady supply of slaves... and fresh hearts
And you may notice that while they were still making tools out of obsidian
the conquistadors showed up in breastplates with guns
We're talking in relative terms here my dude
You had an empire, nomadic tribes, and villages in one continent
Sure, but where were the aquaducts at that time
None of them had Christ, unless you believe the Mormons
I feel like you're deliberately missing the point here now
I think we might be aiming at different points
I'm not arguing to say that christianity is objectively true
I'm just arguing to say that it is objectively the best for the most amount of people
I'm not saying you are
I'm saying you're oversimplifying the factors that go into advancement of society to Jesus and IQ
Well, jesus is a pretty complex thing in terms of this conversation
It's a whole set of cultural values, the sum of which is greater than any other set of cultural values
I would even go so far as to say that a large portion of why that sum is so great is *because* of how christian societies are capable of reform and its due to the injection of other ideas with that strong jesus flavored filling that makes judeo-christian nations so great
After all, the enlightenment happened in christian countries, not anywhere else. Of course it's only happened once, so maybe that's margin of error. Or maybe it was only possible because of the circumstances which being judeo-christian created
We'll never know until we are able to create simulations of earth
And give them free will
And a certain set of commandments and ideas
