I think that the death penalty appeal process could go away with certain crimes today. A lot of the crimes that spend years on appeal are because they are so old that the evidence is shoddy.

I mean, cases today where you have an admission of intent and a video, the appeal is kinda pointless.

A lot of the dragging on of cases are because evidence and methods are so bad.

Mainly, it has to do with the cost of a max security prison, the appeals process, etc. A supermax prison is more cost effective when factoring in average life expectancy and even medical costs.
