The life expectancy, childbirth aside, is misleading. Yes, there was a danger of death in childbirth. However, infant mortality rates were higher, thus driving the average down. Shakespeare notes that a man's expected years were 3 score and 10, or 70.

2017-03-09 04:24:07 UTC

Oh yeah?

2017-03-09 04:24:20 UTC

I was talking about before his time

2017-03-09 04:24:23 UTC

Antiquity

2017-03-09 04:24:58 UTC

Even then you have to account for higher deaths in childhood driving the average down.

2017-03-09 04:27:13 UTC

70 years has been pretty standard for a long time. It was women dying in childbirth, high infant mortality, and now curable diseases that seem to lower it. Basically, if you made it to 12 or 13, you had a good chance of living into your 70s.

China is the bigger danger. They recruit students to come to the US, go,to college, and hack the companies they eventually work for.

2017-03-09 04:28:44 UTC
