It is illegal to build new nuclear plants in 14 states because jimmy carter irrationally prevented spent fuel rod recycling and idiotic environmentalists protested against yucca mountain.

2018-10-21 04:34:25 UTC

Ever see Carter's solar energy field?

2018-10-21 04:34:54 UTC

Yeah. Chernobyl is overrated in terms of effect. People can move there now and nothing will happen to them. It’s retarded.

2018-10-21 04:35:14 UTC

On the White House?

2018-10-21 04:35:24 UTC

Nah, on his ranch

2018-10-21 04:35:42 UTC

Is it larger than Obama’s Mary Jane rose garden?

2018-10-21 04:36:19 UTC

No. I haven’t.

2018-10-21 04:36:54 UTC

I'll put it this way, it would have been a much better use for farm land. Plus, solar panels are non-recyclable so for something to take up that much land in the name of environmentalism and in turn not be environmental in the slightest is a bit irritating to say the least

2018-10-21 04:36:59 UTC

I want to put some on my roof.

2018-10-21 04:37:24 UTC

I think they can be recycled.

2018-10-21 04:37:55 UTC

Its just sliced silicon wafers to some extent

2018-10-21 04:38:08 UTC

I have some on my roof

2018-10-21 04:38:29 UTC

But it’s nowhere near viable enough to supply my house with power all-year round

2018-10-21 04:38:44 UTC

Cool. Solar is pretty cheap in Australia

2018-10-21 04:38:54 UTC

And that’s me living in what is possibly one of the greatest patches of _lol wasteland desert_ in the world

2018-10-21 04:38:58 UTC

Only because of subsidies

2018-10-21 04:39:10 UTC

Otherwise it’s a cost hardly anyone would want to bear

2018-10-21 04:39:26 UTC

Most people have solar panels on a mortgage-like payment plan lmao

2018-10-21 04:39:37 UTC

If not specifically part of their mortgage

2018-10-21 04:40:04 UTC

The idea that it’s dirt cheap without some (rather large) government support is misleading at best

2018-10-21 04:40:31 UTC

I’ve read that Australia gets rooftop solar at around 1.20 a watt

2018-10-21 04:40:44 UTC

No subsidies

2018-10-21 04:40:51 UTC

Ok. I read up on it. It was only recently that they finally made them recyclable but they are highly complex to since they are made of a ton of different types of materials

2018-10-21 04:41:11 UTC

@Salacious Swanky Cat so how would you get the solar panels up there in the first place?

2018-10-21 04:41:25 UTC

Because those things are _fucking expensive_

2018-10-21 04:41:50 UTC

Prohibitively so

2018-10-21 04:42:19 UTC

You just kind of throw them up there. The key is that you have to put your body behind it

2018-10-21 04:42:35 UTC

Be sure that you stick some chewed gum on the back so it sticks once it gets up there

2018-10-21 04:42:43 UTC

Well, I’d either do it myself or see if I can get it done when I replace my roof.

2018-10-21 04:43:26 UTC

Lol. There is a company that makes peel and stick panels.

2018-10-21 04:43:51 UTC

solar was actually costing Germany a pretty penny last year. They had so much excess energy their companies had to pay people to use it

2018-10-21 04:43:56 UTC

I could install the whole system in an afternoon with those.

2018-10-21 04:44:47 UTC

@Salacious Swanky Cat the thing is, different localities, different costs, I guess

2018-10-21 04:45:06 UTC

But a decent solar panel for a house here costs somewhere around AU $5k

2018-10-21 04:47:24 UTC

Now with the cost of living here, it’s... _yeaaaaahhhhhhh_..... bit difficult to find $5k just lying around somewhere

2018-10-21 04:49:39 UTC

I understand. It’s something you have to look at over a period of time for the investment. You guys still get it for cheaper than us.

2018-10-21 04:49:47 UTC

Without subsidies

2018-10-21 04:51:18 UTC

There are probably ways it can get cheaper (by using peel and stick panels maybe).

2018-10-21 04:51:34 UTC

Maybe

2018-10-21 04:52:09 UTC

But as I said in the other channel, I wouldn’t be surprised if without the scheme there would be far lesser amounts of people wanting solar panels

2018-10-21 04:52:23 UTC

They’re not popular as it is even with them lol
