I agree with that

2018-10-23 21:53:35 UTC

Who is the unlikable that?

2018-10-23 22:00:01 UTC

I assume Kyle

2018-10-23 22:17:03 UTC

So coming in late as I am want to do, I will say I don't think Bloomberg is evil, but he is the perfect perfect example of what CS Lewis was saying about someone who oppresses you 'for your own good.'

2018-10-23 22:40:59 UTC

I love CS Lewis

2018-10-23 22:41:16 UTC

No one reads him anymore

2018-10-23 22:51:45 UTC

I listened to the 1st book in The Chronicles of Narnia series, never got to number 2 because I got distracted by other books

2018-10-23 23:01:09 UTC

@wolfman1911 are you a good catholic boy?

2018-10-23 23:10:59 UTC

@Deleted User Chronological first or release order first? Magicians Nephew was a bit of an afterthought despite being the first chronologically. The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe is the proper start. The series is pretty good overall though

2018-10-23 23:19:24 UTC

The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe is where I started.

2018-10-23 23:20:33 UTC

Been a fan of the series since my grandma bought the BBC series on VHS for me back in the 90s.

2018-10-23 23:20:46 UTC

Just never got around to reading the books.

2018-10-23 23:21:00 UTC

You mean the one where Aslan is like RIDE ME!!!!! and it's all violent and scary?

2018-10-23 23:21:09 UTC

Lol

2018-10-23 23:22:05 UTC

@SteelandSouls I never thought it was scary.

2018-10-23 23:22:39 UTC

But Aslan was all like ride me bitches.

2018-10-23 23:25:51 UTC

If anyone has seen Epic Rap Battles of History, I'm now imagining Aslan doing the Teddy Roosevelt "What's up, bitches!!!"

2018-10-23 23:41:01 UTC

@Euro looking for a green card Yes, humans tend to want to experience the new, but miss the familiar.

2018-10-24 00:08:58 UTC

That video of Tim's about Cenk wasn't that bad, reading some of the comments someone brought up feminism because he said he might call himself one. (will have a bit of a chat with the people in the comments).

My question, can anyone here Steel Man Feminism? If it is needed and why, I always look for good arguments. (tho i'm not sure anyone would believe they have any).

2018-10-24 00:11:34 UTC

It depends on how you view feminism. You could look at it through the same lens as socialism ought to be looked at as to the necessity of some social programs does not make socialism good and the necessity to address some feminist concerns does not necessitate feminism - at least in the West. I'd argue feminism is necessary outside of the U.S. and some feminist critiques are fair to address here in the U.S. but ultimately feminism as a whole is not necessary in the Western World

2018-10-24 00:12:27 UTC

@Shadows u mean tim pool's video ?

2018-10-24 00:13:20 UTC
2018-10-24 00:20:13 UTC

@SteelandSouls That was all very vague. As in, what in the West is a feminist concern that is necessary to consider. And more importantly what would you consider to be helpful with outside of the West that is needs feminism.

2018-10-24 00:23:56 UTC

So in terms of what the West could stand to benefit from a feminist concern was the original intent of things like #Me Too. Most people can understand the necessity to address the "consent" of power dynamics. It's not to say that it's not consent but it definitely makes you raise an eyebrow. So if you look at Harvey Weinstein's situation to where most if not all of his situations were consensual, threatening to destroy someone's career (As Hollywood is wont to do) for saying no to a sexual advance should definitely raise a concern with people. Feminism here has a nasty habit of imposing legal liability when it is more of a cultural issue and cultural issues are hard to address to begin with so there's a large degree of fault due to ignorance from the Me Too movement.

2018-10-24 00:25:05 UTC

In terms of feminism elsewhere, I don't think that's all too vague a la anywhere Muslim.

2018-10-24 00:33:35 UTC

@Deleted User I am not a Catholic.

2018-10-24 00:34:27 UTC

No worries. I only ever see Catholics and Mormons ever quite Lewis these days

2018-10-24 00:35:53 UTC

I don't know why, he's pretty great

2018-10-24 01:09:36 UTC

If all milk drinkers are racist and animal haters, does that make _all_ mammals the same? And since Hitler was a vegan, does that make all vegans Nazis?

2018-10-24 01:09:42 UTC

🤔

2018-10-24 01:10:09 UTC

Well...if you see what vegans do on the regular, then yes. Vegans are inherently Nazis.

2018-10-24 01:10:27 UTC

Kill all hashashins

2018-10-24 01:59:50 UTC

I was just watching the stuff from the March for Tommy Robinson in the U.K. and just noticed something interesting

2018-10-24 02:00:13 UTC

Apparently, Youtube has a comment beneath RT videos stating that they are in part funded by the Russian Government

2018-10-24 02:00:26 UTC

I mean, we know about that. Just...why?

2018-10-24 02:08:03 UTC
2018-10-24 02:11:04 UTC

I mean, I think the RT is propaganda trash so I'm glad they tell dumb people

2018-10-24 02:12:15 UTC

That's all well and good and true. The problem I have is the inconsistency. Where is TYT's little comment about their Qatari funding? I figure if they are just going to back track everyone's funding and what-not, may as well

2018-10-24 02:12:24 UTC

@SteelandSouls that was bond to happen, and it started a while ago, odd you didn't see it :)
What is even funnier to me, is how google has videos, that even talk about things like the holocaust (or some other top topics) even in passing. They link like the Wiki on it (or something), so people understand what it is and not just follow the view of the video.

2018-10-24 02:13:43 UTC

I don't watch RT so it absolutely blew my mind. Good to know that Google is looking out for propaganda because, ya know, it's not like they engage in it.

2018-10-24 02:14:24 UTC

On a more interesting note, anyone else playing the Mega Millions?
