lying is viewed as immoral yet people do it anyway

2019-03-15 05:44:20 UTC

No, they believe that their religion justifies it, not that it's morally acceptable. They know what they are doing is wrong, they simply believe that their religion commands it

2019-03-15 05:44:28 UTC

So If someone else wants to rape a child you wont stop them

2019-03-15 05:44:45 UTC

they put their own needs or wants above their morality

2019-03-15 05:44:59 UTC

or beliefs

2019-03-15 05:45:11 UTC

they are just weak and self centred people

2019-03-15 05:45:22 UTC

Morality isnt a belief. It's human nature

2019-03-15 05:46:34 UTC

these are all false equivalencies. not all people share the same moral compass. different people have different points of view. its not wrong to acknowledge that. im sure i have different morals than many of you.

2019-03-15 05:47:03 UTC

morality isnt human nature you brainlet.

2019-03-15 05:47:10 UTC

people having different points of view does not disprove objectivity of a thing

2019-03-15 05:47:24 UTC

but morality isnt objective you fucking idiots.

2019-03-15 05:47:29 UTC

there are people who believe that certain kinds of tech are legit magic

2019-03-15 05:47:31 UTC

is there any country with laws where murder isn't illegal?

2019-03-15 05:47:36 UTC

Yes it is objective

2019-03-15 05:47:40 UTC

>hurr durr it isnt human nature
>suddenly almost every single nation outlaws murder, rape, slavery, etc.
>Not human nature

2019-03-15 05:47:53 UTC

MORALITY ~principles concerning the distinction between right and wrong or good and bad behavior.

2019-03-15 05:48:00 UTC

it's been universally decided by all societies all communities that murder is immoral, it's why it's a crime

2019-03-15 05:48:21 UTC

Morality is objective. Whether or not you know those moral values is the only subjective thing

2019-03-15 05:48:23 UTC

hmm it's starting to thunder here I might have to log soon

2019-03-15 05:48:40 UTC

Morality can only function as an absolute

2019-03-15 05:48:46 UTC

it hasn't been universally decided because many people think killing certain people is ok.

2019-03-15 05:48:53 UTC

lol

2019-03-15 05:49:05 UTC

So if all your friends jumped off a cliff would you?

2019-03-15 05:49:18 UTC

no, he's not arguing for morality by majority

2019-03-15 05:49:20 UTC

fuck all my friends are dead so probably.

2019-03-15 05:49:25 UTC

no they think they're justified in doing so, at ignoring the morality because of their beliefs

2019-03-15 05:49:37 UTC

do they think murdering anyone is ok or just a certain person or group?

2019-03-15 05:49:45 UTC

he's just not making any case for subjective morality over objective, but that's also because nobody is stating an actual concrete position

2019-03-15 05:49:57 UTC

@Beemann That's ultimately what subjective morality leads to: might make right

2019-03-15 05:50:06 UTC

slavery used to be moral now its not. morality changes.

2019-03-15 05:50:12 UTC

it was never moral

2019-03-15 05:50:15 UTC

no. the times change.

2019-03-15 05:50:20 UTC

but it was practiced

2019-03-15 05:50:26 UTC

some proposed moral frameworks are measurably better than others, by virtue of their consequences. Ergo there is a "correct" answer

2019-03-15 05:50:35 UTC

you are all very closed minded.

2019-03-15 05:50:41 UTC

lol

2019-03-15 05:50:42 UTC

morality doesn't shift at all if it's one absolute standard

2019-03-15 05:50:47 UTC

If everyone had different moral values on how we should run society, society would cease to exist. Countries with "different moral values" are simply countries with a lack of, or an abundance of certain moral values over others. Every single citizen of that society holds those same morsl values, and thats the main reason why that society is able to stand. Morality cannot be subjective, if it were, nations could not exist. Period.
