I would advocate instead that people allow the portions of the overall social/political structure that are beyond repair to fall apart, and prepare a good alternative before they do

In culture war terms, that would basically mean giving ground where there can be no solid victory, and focusing on areas where a win will actually mean something. I just think that will ultimately not stop some level of collapse
