Now THAT'S high IQ analysis ! π
@wolfman1911 why?
I've heard folks like Pinker state that it doesn't accurately capture a person's proclivity towards success.
It certainly doesn't predict success entirely, because high IQ people can be a) lazy fucks who never do anything productive and/or b) sidetracked by their intelligence into too many intellectual rabbit holes and/or c) get totally obsessed with some problem that might be interesting or useful but doesn't lead to profit.
But IQ is still definitely a thing. High processing speed, good working memory, ability to solve problems across disciplines. It makes learning and integrating new skills and information faster and more useful.
Soph is funny and clearly a very intelligent young woman--watch her livestreams, she accounts for herself well.
Uncephalized pretty well captured it, but I think IQ is more a measure of potential than intelligence, simply because you could be off the charts in terms of IQ, but you'll still grow up to be a moron if you don't have the motivation to apply it.
In addition to that, I've gone to high school with at least one kid whose parents preached to him how important high IQ was, and that he had one, and that kid was a total douche, so I wouldn't mind it's use being down played just to prevent that.
They did it wrong. Should have preached to him about how having a great gift comes with the responsibility to make a commensurate contribution to posterity. Instead of just swelling his head up with delusions of grandeur based on immutable characteristics instead of accomplishments.
Well, that guy was probably going to be a dick either way, because his parents also taught him that they were rich, and he acted as though he personally somehow deserved it.
IQ is the barrel size of a cannon. Learned knowledge is the ammunition. Wisdom is the ability to properly aim it.
@Bowman151 that's Vox Day's analogy, yes?
It's a pretty good one.
That's awful...
lol
I'm not sure why, but that analogy reminds me of this scene: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JjnpTcvGvts
Iβm pretty sure thatβs where I heard it.

Hello Nazi brothers and sisters. I was hoping one of you fine klansman would be able to give me some quick instructions on how to call in tonight
You gotta rollcall at the right time
There's instructions in intro but I suspect C1PHER I'd giving you the full guide
Exactly 10 minutes before the stream starts, go to the <#231936127378915328> channel and put your name in. Most people just literally type <#231936127378915328>
Then wait in either voice chat waiting room, Matt will forcibly yank you into the call when it's your turn.
Where can I just listen in?
On the YouTube channel, for live broadcasts, or on your favourite podcast service after the fact
The stream is hosted on Matt's YouTube channel
https://www.youtube.com/skagg3/live
Perfect. Thank you guys!
I didn't realize the URL was still skagg3. That's funny
The call-in show won't be posted to YouTube later, you'll have to find the audio-only versions if you listen in later
Remember that the stream is on a 30-second-ish delay, so you won't be expecting to get pulled in when you do. And then you'll have to mute the stream so you don't get really confused.
Yeah I think channel URLs are permanent
Apparently this one also works:
