DJ, what would a conflict look like, if not for resources, as you define them?

2019-06-05 06:06:14 UTC

Good night Shadows

2019-06-05 06:06:20 UTC

Not leaving yet.

2019-06-05 06:06:35 UTC

Your remaining is a resource causing conflict between DJ and I

2019-06-05 06:06:52 UTC

😉

2019-06-05 06:07:05 UTC

Do i use my resource of time to embattled myself!

2019-06-05 06:07:11 UTC

No, the resource that would be fought over right now is wanting to win an argument.

2019-06-05 06:07:51 UTC

In every conflict there is something that someone wants that leads them to the conflict.

2019-06-05 06:08:23 UTC

And that idea that you will sacrifice the desire of another person to achieve what you want is greed.

2019-06-05 06:09:31 UTC

Do you consider it greed when a fugitive task force catches a prison escapee?

2019-06-05 06:09:53 UTC

I see a lot more than black and white

2019-06-05 06:10:11 UTC

The prisoner is being greedy. The task force probably not.

2019-06-05 06:10:12 UTC

Or is it only when it is unjustified?

2019-06-05 06:11:32 UTC

Its when you do something at the expense of others

Obviously it's more grey in your instance because the task force is just doing their job. But the prisoner is certainly exhibiting greed.

2019-06-05 06:11:47 UTC

No matter what you do, you will end up doing it at the expense of another person, somewhere along the line

2019-06-05 06:12:14 UTC

Again I have to wonder, since you seem to be claiming all conflict has to do with resource acquisition, what would a conflict look like without that impetus, via your terms?

2019-06-05 06:12:41 UTC

resources, jobs, the capacity for meaningful relationships, all are finite. Competition is an inherent part of human interaction

2019-06-05 06:13:12 UTC

What would God need with a Starship?

2019-06-05 06:13:12 UTC

Exactly, and competition is inherantly greedy.

2019-06-05 06:13:17 UTC

Not that it's wrong.

2019-06-05 06:14:16 UTC

I mean, conflict could arise between two people with different opinions on that interpersonal level, do we then say the resource is the winner's opinion?

2019-06-05 06:14:21 UTC

I dont see it necessarily as greed

2019-06-05 06:14:34 UTC

There are varrying levels to greed.

2019-06-05 06:14:34 UTC

Because its not.

2019-06-05 06:14:41 UTC

you will still "gain" by losing

2019-06-05 06:14:46 UTC

I think what must be examined and you might be missing is the actual intent of the people involved

2019-06-05 06:14:48 UTC

but you wont get the specific thing you want

2019-06-05 06:15:35 UTC

Greed might not be the best word in all instances, but a synonym could probably fit in its place.

2019-06-05 06:15:48 UTC

lust?

2019-06-05 06:15:56 UTC

sorry, i am horny

2019-06-05 06:16:08 UTC

Yeah, lust, desire, greed, envy

2019-06-05 06:16:47 UTC

I may be motivated by lust right now, but the abundance of porn online means there isn't really a conflict

2019-06-05 06:16:52 UTC

To a certain extent those emotions play a role in our drive to achieve something. Rarely are humans ever purely altruistic.

2019-06-05 06:17:11 UTC

There doesn't have to be conflict in everything.

2019-06-05 06:17:42 UTC

Alexa: Play John Lenon's Imagine

2019-06-05 06:18:22 UTC

Ambition, maybe?

2019-06-05 06:18:29 UTC

or Will to Power? :^)

2019-06-05 06:18:40 UTC

Triumph of the Will?

2019-06-05 06:18:49 UTC

😉

2019-06-05 06:19:05 UTC

nah, no fanfics, only the real deal

2019-06-05 06:19:16 UTC

Before i start anything, i should ask DJ.
Is love greed?
Is hope greed?
Is giving greed?
Is caring greed?
Is protection greed?
I could keep going but i'm just making sure. It is true that some of these things can be greedy, but that's not where they start. You boiling down every possibility to greed, like i said is way to simplicity.
