No, the resource that would be fought over right now is wanting to win an argument.

In every conflict there is something that someone wants that leads them to the conflict.

And that idea that you will sacrifice the desire of another person to achieve what you want is greed.

Do you consider it greed when a fugitive task force catches a prison escapee?

The prisoner is being greedy. The task force probably not.

Its when you do something at the expense of others

Obviously it's more grey in your instance because the task force is just doing their job. But the prisoner is certainly exhibiting greed.

No matter what you do, you will end up doing it at the expense of another person, somewhere along the line

Again I have to wonder, since you seem to be claiming all conflict has to do with resource acquisition, what would a conflict look like without that impetus, via your terms?

resources, jobs, the capacity for meaningful relationships, all are finite. Competition is an inherent part of human interaction

I think what must be examined and you might be missing is the actual intent of the people involved

but you wont get the specific thing you want

Greed might not be the best word in all instances, but a synonym could probably fit in its place.

To a certain extent those emotions play a role in our drive to achieve something. Rarely are humans ever purely altruistic.

I could keep going but i'm just making sure. It is true that some of these things can be greedy, but that's not where they start. You boiling down every possibility to greed, like i said is way to simplicity.
